So, I found a book that i need for school but its softcover even a different isbn but same title and edition. Are they the same books just different bindings? Why are they a $60.00 difference in price ? thanks

LOL--how to get our attention!

All I can share is that some of the textbooks are "packaged" for a particular school and/or may come bundled with other reference or online access codes. Whenever this is done, the same text may be given a different ISBN to denote one of those situations.

You probably need to do a little more researching though.

I ran into a text about a year and a half ago with different ISBNs. One was published for the US market and the other was for English speakers in foreign countries -- that was cheaper. Never could figure out if they were the same.

Is the softcover one the international version? That's what I am seeing a lot. I am also seeing nearly all professors and schools saying NOT to purchase the international version because they are not the same. I ignored this and bought the international text for EC Business Policy, which saved me a TON. If it is different from the text I'm supposed to be using, it is not noticeable. It seems to be the same page for page.

IMO, the schools want you to buy the super expensive domestic version from their bookstore for obvious reasons, which is why they don't want you to buy the international version. Poke around and make sure that the two versions are the same, and if they appear to be, save your sixty buckaroos. Just my 2 cents.

Fun fact: my spell check did not appear to have any problems with the word "buckaroos". Rolleyes

I bought and used a book for my last class that was 2nd Edition. The school wanted a 6th Edition. I was missing the final chapter that everyone else had but I still managed to pull off an "A" thanks to Google and Wikipedia.

If you like them hard, then you should go with that one. But a soft one will probably do the same job. hilarious
