same annoying friends keep reappearing on Facebook

Whether I have 25 or 250 Facebook friends it seems the
same 7 or 8 keep appearing on my profile on a Googe search.
I had to delete one because it was so gross. My FB profile
looks like a freak show because the same people appear
often at the same time. I add new people but the garbage
seem to recycle. FB uses an algorith based on your profile and
displays friend that seem to match. They anything but reflect my
taste. Is there anything I can do to break this loop other than
Unfriend these people?

Yes, you should be able to control the friends that are featured. Since there have been so many changes since I've done it, I'm not sure that I could walk you through it- but I think it can still be done. Let me look at mine and see if I remember how to do it.

EDIT: It looks like this feature no longer exists. You used to be able to pick your own "top friends" and select either 3, 6, or 9 and they would display- I guess they pulled that feature.
