recommended premed major ADVICE WANTED

And once you get accepted, just finishing any U.S. medical school is a good thing. Two things:

What do you call the person who graduates in last place? Doctor.

What if you make a C in medical school? C for continue.

I know a woman who wanted to be a surgeon. She had some C for continue grades. She didn't match. She ended up scrambling for any residency anywhere at all. She got a pathology residency and discovered that she liked it. Even better, she discovered that she was good at it and became the president of some pathology professional association.

That's one of the things they don't tell you when you get in...you have to get matched or you get to practice in Europe or Latin America. Not really an issue in US schools, they have the matches preplanned and even the "c" students get a spot somewhere (though it could be across the country). The foreign Med schools are different, my pal from the Caribbean school spent every waking moment worried about this and working angles to get any stateside spot...part of the cost of alternative medical education I suppose.

What's the difference between God and a Doctor? .....God knows he's not a Doctor. Smile

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Caribbean schools are the super expensive last chance saloons for pre-med failures who insist on not killing off their unrealistic dreams. OP, don't end up in this situation.

OP - Go over to SDN and read as much as possible over there.

Hey, I'd like to explain something trailrunr. My only study source for these CLEPs was IC. I was given only this to study with and did my best with what I had for the present (before upcoming high school grad in May this year).
I am very good at writing, but the college comp gave me a twist not because of the content but because the test room was way to cold (another test-taker mentioned this to the proctor); my hands were nearly stiff as I was typing those essays. DESPITE this, I passed with a 55+ score. I would want to retake this CLEP though because it was not a fair deal. The proctor did not even include my complaint with the test that was sent in for grading.
US HIS 1 and 2 were passed at a B-level score as well as Biology and Sociology.
Back to the CLEP scores, IC plainly states that it is not meant to make one ACE the exam but just to decently pass it. IC was all I had; I would've loved to ace the CLEPS but I did pass.
So, would you say don't send in the C-level scores to a college, just the B-level. Or would you recommend not even using the CLEP scores for college? And thank you for contributing to this very interesting discussion thread.

I'm not exactly looking into a DO degree; MD is more respected and insurance will pay for their care.
That being said, I do know physicians who would be eager to provide letters for me. A ENT in middle GA, a doctor in Boston, MA and even an osteopathic doctor in Atlanta, GA. Furthermore, a pulmonary doctor at Cincinatti, Ohio Children's Hospital was impressed by me and I am sure that he too would gladly refer me. The osteopathic doctor actually hinted at my becoming a DO. LOL
I will begin shadowing a soon as possible, and was offered (without begging) a chance to shadow an orthodontist when I was in tenth grade.
How does this sound?? And what more should I do??
Should I resume flute lessons and try to cram in a last few hours in the next 1-2 months, or instead focus on the SAT (if I'm allowed to take it)??
