I'm really interested in the idea of taking Straighterline courses or even other alternative forms of credit with ProctorU.
I am very concerned about security. I have heard that these types of proctors could potentially get access to your computer even after the exam is finished. Is that correct?
If so, is there anyway around this problem? I was thinking of just creating a separate user account on my pc. Do you think that would help?

My suggestion would be to use a virtual machine that can be destroyed after use.
I use vmware fusion on my mac, but its called vmware workstation if you have windows or linux.
You need to know computers fairly well to get it running.
Why not just take cleps or dssts?

I took a handful of midterms and finals using ProctorU and had no issues. My husband has a tech paranoia level that rivals some conspiracy theorists, and he set up a few checks for the first few exams. Once I was done with the exam, any trace of connection was gone. (He still set a restore point before I took the exams and reset to the restore points when I was done, but there was no need, even by his own admission.) Some folks still have issues with the service for various reasons, but I had good experiences each time.

That's interesting Mrs. I am also quite paranoid about this sort of thing.
I am planning on wiping my computer out soon anyways and restoring it to its default, as it has some bugs.
Do any of you all think that would undoubtedly destroy any potential of the proctor gaining access to my pc in the future? Like if say I took the exam, wiped the computer, and restored?

Mrs B is right, you'll be fine.
They have you download an applet that runs while you take the test. Afterwards you close it out and it cannot be re-used for another session.
It's straightforward and leaves no open link once it's closed out. Once they're gone, they're gone.
Also, you can have a LOT of fun screwing with the proctors. It became a minor hobby of mine. You can use obscene background wallpapers
and once I even took a test wearing a tiger costume. I almost wished I needed more classes. It's like Chatroulette only they can't leave..... muahahahahhahaha
