bsinsc Wrote:Thanks Jennifer (cookderosa)......I do have my BA from TESC so could conceivably get into one of those direct entry MSN programs. I agree that they are expensive, but it just sounds like the best way to get it all done it the least amount of time. I have completed all my pre-reqs for nursing school, but will need to take them over again because they are all over 5 years old which sucks! I'm also up against the fact that even the basic courses english, math etc will not transfer in to most any program from TESC since I tested out. The local tech school here will only give me credit for 2 cleps! so to them I don't even have a BA. I really don't have time to start from scratch....What a quandry!
But finishing in the least amount of time if it means a mountain of debt won't really help your situation. I would be so very leery of taking on substantial debt...you really can't afford that.

You may have an issue with the pre-reqs being >5 years old...or you may not, it depends on the specific program. Your local school might care...but usually a Masters program is simply looking for a confirmed Bachelors...there are exceptions of course.

Know also that since you have a BA you won't be eligible for the PELL grant.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Jennifer and all,

Thanks again for your reply. Have you heard of any other programs in healthcare that are hybid or online that I might have a chance at other than RN? I just don't know how I can spend the time and $ needed to get it at this point in my life. I've been looking into nuclear medicine, sonography, etc but again there are no programs nearby.

Thanks!
Jill

Got a hyperbaric chamber nearby...like used in wound care? Might be an option. I know locally even an EMT-Basic can go to the HBO school which is usually only 1-2 weeks. The job pays $15-20/hr in Central Florida

An experienced technologist, in the right place, can make considerably more than your average RN. We are having trouble finding a senior technologist to run the program here...they all want too much money to leave wherever they are.
