Is it safe to assume that pre-calculus is easier than calculus in terms of the CLEP? I have sufficiently forgotten any of this material long ago and honestly can't remember the differences between the two.
pre-calculus or calculus

A side note .... If you are an Excelsior student and you don't like Math ..... Take evening math courses at your local community college ...... EC will let you transfer in D's ....... Most Instructors (In my opinion) will give you a sympathy D instead of an F even if you fail the course miserably. Just a thought!

Besides bceagle's response, which is actually a very good idea if math is not your forte, pre-calculus is a subject geared at preparing you for the study of calculus (obviousy you can tell that from the name). To put it simply, it is course on reviewing algerbra coupled with functions. So in a sense, pre-calc should be easier, since it is not going full steam into the functions and beyond. Instead it is just focusing on your past education (if the student has any) and introducing BASIC concepts.

Hey I can say Calculus is easy ....Pre-calc is basically algebra-trig....
Now if you have problems with trigonometry ; Calculus should be easy if you have some math and algebra background.... Calculus just has derivatives and anti-derivatives.....chain rules, etc etc ...

I need to take Calculus in order to complete the higher math requirements for my bachelor's in business administration, and have watched the videos by The Standard Deviants. I understand the concepts, but as soon as they try to use the basic trigonometric functions in a problem, I get completely lost. How important is it to understand those, and where can I find material that explains the Calculus/sin/cosine/etc. stuff?

Calculus is easy -- if you know trig, geometry, and algebra II.... Go watch these videos and then decide if it is easy for you. These videos are a great teaching tutorial on Calc I and Calc II.
Calculus Videos I would take the course from local community college if you could. That is what I am doing.
