I am waiting for my unofficial evaluation from Excelsior. In the mean time, I put together a potential Roadmap to a BS in Liberal Studies through Excelsior. I know I won't know for sure if it is an accurate path for me to take until I enroll and get an official evaluation, but I was hoping you all could take a look at it and advice me on anything if it is incorrect since there are so many folks on the forum that really know their stuff.

I think your plan looks excellent. You have Civil War & Reconstruction listed twice in your History section, but I can see you probably meant to put Rise & Fall of the Soviet Union in there. Looks great, you did a good job on this!

I spent some time today mapping out my own Excelsior BSLS and then noticed yours. I was wondering why you chose the classes Like ECE American Dream and ECE Cultural Diversity or DSST Business Law II that do not have IC flash cards. Any particular reason?
I am testing out completely and chose business and psychology as my Depth Requirements. My next objective is to put the classes in as synergistic an order as possible so take advantage of study overlap. I would appreciate your feedback if you change your roadmap after your evaluation. Thanks

Tom

I see that you took information systems & computer applications. If you're going for overlap, why not take intro to computers and management information systems? MIS is upper-level too, so that would be a bonus, no?
EDIT: I see now that you already have them on your roadmap. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm planning on taking the ECE American Dream simply because it is 6 credits. I am taking the Business Law II test because I believe that it will satisfy the Upper level requirement for my Business depth. As far as ECE Cultural Diversity, no reason really why I picked that. Just curious, what exam do you think would be a better option instead of Cultural Diversity? One of my main goals in designing the roadmap though was to avoid taking a lot of ECE tests. One, because they are more expensive, and two I am not planning on enrolling at Excelsior until I have just about finished testing out of everything. If all goes according to plan, I will have 3 ECE tests to take and the Information Literacy online class at the very end. I'll be able to easily complete those within a few months which will save me from having to pay another enrollment fee if I wasn't able to complete the degree in a years time. I thought of having a depth in Psychology and possibly taking the Psych GRE, but I'm not confident that I will do very well on it, and I have always done well in the business and history classes that I have taken. I'll update the post when the Unofficial Eval comes back.
I am going to take intro to computers and management information systems. I think I may have called it DSST Management Info Systems on my Road map though.
I don't have any specific info on how hard or easy the classes are other than general references from sites like Lawrie Millers BA in 4 Weeks site and reviewing the specific feedback sections of some of the exams.
My line of thinking right now is use IC flash cards as a base for the exam preparation and supplement that with additional study material as seems appropriate (based on the exam feedback section). I feel I can pass just about any test if I have the right information to study. Particularly important the DSST & ECE's that EC awards grades on.
I am following the same path of putting off enrolling at EC until I am closer to graduating too. I would be very interested in your progress.

rubbersoul, thanks for your chart I actually found it quite useful. I'm curious how did you determine exactly what category each test/class falls into. I think this is where I'm missing the boat. I'd love to take my existing credits and plut it into a chart like yours.
I need to get out my Excel book so I can make one! It is beautiful and very detailed. How did you include your credits from the B&M school? Or did you include them?
