physics II with lab-online or classroom
#1
Hi Friends,

I am working full time and I have the option to either take physics II with lab in classroom (evening classes two days a week 5-8pm) or online (same duration august-Dec) for fall 2012. Alongside, I am planning to take 2-3 CLEPS by dec.

Which option do you think is easier and less taxing? I have never taken a lab course online- is online more fast paced and demanding?

thanks a lot for your advice

I think its sort of an impossible question. Online doesn't equate automatically to harder or easier. I will say that it would be hard to convince me to return to a traditional classroom...I like the independence and freedom offered via asynchronous online learning.

Either way you can always cut back on the clepping to devote time to the class.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

I'm sorry, I'm old. But do you mean that it was a different teacher at a different university? If so, you may want to also check that a broken sequence is acceptable. I've noticed many times that sequence labs are required from the same institution. Of course this depends on where you are going, just tossing that out there as something to look at.

I think Rebel's answer is best. FWIW, I've taken a ton of online science labs, besides the extra cost of setting up a home lab and added annoyance of submitting lab reports/photos electronically *not a huge deal, I'd say the only tipping point is if you think you can learn the material without a teacher. I had a few chemistry and anatomy labs where I'd wished I had a lab partner or teacher to help me through one of the steps. Overall, it went fine.

May I ask - where did you find this option - physics II with lab-online? I didn't think there were many available and I know someone who needs to take it soon. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I cannot cut back on CLEP exams. I have decided to go with online lab course as it would go well with my full time work schedule.

Ohhhh, we are neighbors Tongue
Your CC and mine are in the consortium together. I've taught in the Iowa CC system for 18 years. I have no insight, just making an observation. lol
