need feedback on my roadmap to BGB at Excelsior
#1
I need to get some feedback on the remaining courses I have left and make sure the I'm taking them in the right order. Below is the evaluation summary from Excelsior College and below that is my plan of action.

NOTE: All courses already approved by Excelsior.

Evaluation Summary-BS in General Business (BGB)

General Education Component
You need:
- at least 32.00 credits in arts & sciences to include:
- Macroeconomics
- Microeconomics
- College Algebra, at the level of precalculus (or higher)
- Statistics

Business Component
You need:
- Introduction to Accounting I (Financial)
- Introduction to Accounting II (Managerial)
- Managerial Finance or Financial Management
- Production/Operations Management
- Business Policy***

Ethics Requirement
arts and sciences or business electives

Organizational Behavior Requirement
arts and sciences or business electives

Spring 2008
I'm currently taking classes at American River College. Their math courses are independent study and take my chapter exams each Saturday. I'm just about done with 5 unit Math 100 Intro to Algebra, and plan to start with 5 unit Math 120 Intermediate Algebra. I'm at pace to finish both prior to Spring Semester. Once this is done, I plan to study and take the CLEP College Algebra.

Spring 2008
5.0 MATH 100 Elementary Algebra - ARC
5.0 MATH 120 Intermediate Algebra - ARC
5.0 CLEP Exam College Algebra

Summer 2008
Plan to take Probability & Statistics 4.0 unit, and PHIL 310 Intro to Ethics At American River College. I decided to take Ethics at the school, as I hear great things about the instructor and good shot of obtaining an A. Plus, I can knock both courses in 8 weeks.

Fall 2008
This one, I'm thinking of taking Financial Accounting at American River College. I heard it's a tough course to CLEP out on. I'm thinking of taking one class and CLEP the following during Fall 2008. I'm giving 4 weeks for each exam while taking Acct.

CLEP Exam Macroeconomics
CLEP Exam Microeconomics
DSST Organizational Behavior

Spring 2009
plan to take Managerial Accounting in American River College and Operations Management at Excelsior College during this semester.
Also planning studying for DSST Principles of Finance during the first few months of 2009 then take the exam.

Last course at Excelsior College once I finish Operations Management at Excelsior around summer 2009.

One of the reasons why I'm not taking too many cleps and one month between exams for economics and org. behavior, because I want to pursue my MBA and want to make sure I have a good understanding of the subject be well prepare for those courses. I'm also debating if I should forget about the College Algebra Clep and take Business Calculus at ARC. I hear you need to have a good understanding of Bus. Calculus for MBA?

As far as the order goes--it looks fine to me. I'm not sure how important that is--or how "wrong" it could be, but it makes sense to me. You're going to be glad your going to be tackling Managerial Accounting and Principles of Finance around the same time.

Otherwise, it appears that you've already satisfied the required 12 upper-level business credit requirement--but if for some reason you haven't, you could substitute the ECE Organizational Behavior for the DSST and get upper level credit and satisfy the OB requirement. Finally, I believe it'll cost you about half as much to take Operations Management through CSU Pueblo (see related thread). I just completed the first six of twenty application exercises and received my first exam in the mail today. So far, so good. Good luck!

Yeah, I saw some of the practice questions for Principles of Finance and decided it would be toward the end.

As for Organizational Behavior, it would have to be DSST because the courses I have left, I would complete the rest of the Arts & Sciences credits. I have already satisfied the upper division business courses. On Operations Management, it would depend on the financial aid with Excelsior. I just completed the financial aid online over the weekend for the 2008/2009 year and might have some of these courses paid by Financial Aid, so the rest of my employer tuition reimbursement pays for MBA courses toward end of 2009.
