need a plan for a BS degree
#1
Looking for some help in planning how to obtain a BS degree before June 2015. I have approximately 120 credits from a community college before obtaining my an AAS in Nursing (1985). Basic classes were taken along with Early Childhood Education and Business/computer classes. What is the most affordable way to get my degree and the fastest. I have a job that I need a BS in any area before June 2015. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you want something to utilize your nursing courses, then I recommend the health studies program at COSC. Depending on what kind of computer classes you have, TESC's BSAST in Technical Studies might be a good option for you because it accepts courses in computer and health studies. TESC's BSBA in General Management is the quickest and cheapest degree to test out of. However, depending on what kind of computer courses you have, TESC's BSBA in Computer Information Systems might be a better option. TESC accepts a maximum of 80 community college credits. You'll also be limited in how my community college credits you can use toward an Excelsior or COSC degree because they require 30 upper level credits.

If you want someone to plan a degree for you, then post the titles of the courses you do have with their prefixes.

There are many ways to do this. I suspect you will at a minimum need 30 upper level (300 and 400) classes plus any general eds you might not have.
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

I think Rebel meant to say credits.

If you already have over 120 credits, you might possibly be eligible for a Bachelor in General Studies from Athabasca U. Post your credits with their prefixes and number of hours ("ENC-101 English Comp I 3 hrs") and let us know if they are quarter hours instead of semester hours, then we can give you better advice.

Below are the courses I have taken with the credits earned for each class. I am a single parent of 5 children that are in college. I have put off getting my degree to raise them or fund their education. A job advancement has come up but I need a BS degree in any field by June 2015. Even with financial aid funds are limited. So looking for the most affordable and fasted way to accomplish getting a degree. I have learned alot from this forum. Thank you to all that have posted. I wish I had known about CLEP, DSST and some of the free classes before all my children started. It may still help some since they have all not finished. And I will certainly pass this information on to others.

I think the BSBA in General Management will be your cheapest option. You can probably complete it for less than $2,000.

In order to have a degree by June, you are going to have to complete all of your coursework and have transcripts submitted by April 1.

Thomas Edison State College: Graduation Information

If you decide to go with a BSBA, I would suggest getting the Strategic Management course from Penn Foster knocked out as early as possible. There are 3 required webinars only available Sunday evenings and have to be scheduled ahead of time. It took me two months to get the course completed because of schedule conflicts with work. Because you have no upper level credits, you will have a chaotic path ahead if you are going to get everything done before April.
