It's not a matter of giving up. The government and the people can't do anymore.
NBA Hawks basketball player Brandon Goodwin had to cancel his 2020-21 basketball season because of blood clots most likely due to the vaccine.
Orlando Magic forward Jonathan Isaac said he didn't want the vaccine because he already had COVID and the risks, though small wasn't worth it to take the vaccine. One of Pfizer's own scientists admitted that natural immunity was better than the vaccine.
Kyrie Irving refused to take the vaccine saying, “nobody should be forced to do anything with their bodies”.
With the amount of money/fame these players have, you would think it would be easy for these players to find a nurse to give them the vaccine shot if you know what I mean.
So they are really sticking their necks out there fighting for our freedoms or at least the right to question something that the government says.
This is a history of some experimental vaccines doing more harm than good so some people are not excited to take the vaccine especially if they are young and in good health.
These vaccine mandates will go down in history as one of the worse things the government has done to its own citizens. (Keep in mind illegals are exempt from vaccine mandates)

On April 28, 1967, Muhammad Ali was stripped of his heavyweight title and suspended from boxing for 3 years for refusing to register for the draft. The draft is pure government tyranny and should be banned for both males and females.
On February 19, 1942, Franklin D. Roosevelt, a Democrat that praised both Hitler and Mussolini, decided to lock up legal Japanese American citizens in concentration camps.

Bill Maher thinks the pandemic is over, so it’s over. In a country where the great majority of people are vaccinated, more vaccinated people than unvaccinated people die. Never mind the fact that you are more likely to die if you aren’t vaccinated. Some vaccinated people died, so we should just give up.

We got more infected/dying people this year with the vaccine than we had without the vaccine last year. I love how anti-vaxers constantly move the goal post and misrepresent things (lie, but I am being considerate). Are the vaccines 100% effective? Nope. BUT the unvaccinated are dramatically more likely to get Covid, to be hospitalized with it, and to die from it.
Also, you do know that the uptick in Covid cases and deaths is being driven by the UNVACCINATED, right? So, you are criticizing a vaccine because it cannot protect the roughly 40% of the population who cannot or will not take it? I would love it if they could develop a magic vaccine that would 100% protect everybody without anybody having to take it. But, let’s be real, a significant part of the population wouldn’t trust it because it was created too quickly, the WHO was involved in its development, Anthony Fauci ate toast for breakfast, yada, yada, yada.
nothing you have said is true
well, you did say one thing that was true -- the vaccines are not 100% effective
> So, you are criticizing a vaccine because it cannot protect the roughly 40% of the population who cannot or will not take it?
wow, you are totally clueless
the vaccine can't even protect those that DO take it LOL

The infection rates have gone up because we're fully open. People had many months to get vaccinated before the mandates came, so I doubt mandates have convinced people to not get vaccinated. They were already dragging their feet. The vaccination rates are low in less-educated populations, so that should tell you something. Also, vaccine hesitancy is correlated with lower intelligence. Eighty-five percent of Illinois' COVID deaths last week were among those 65 and older, and that age group has already been recommended for booster shots. How many of those who died received their boosters?
Vaccine mandates are not new, and they've previously been upheld in court.

Many states were never closed, or closed for a very short period of time, and have been open for MANY, MANY months. Many of those states didn't do any worse than states that were shut down for a very long time. I don't think this is the reason. I think pandemics run their course no matter what we do, and then fade away.
I know many who are Covid-vaccine hesitant for many reasons that have nothing to do with their intelligence: 1) they're too new, and haven't had time to show any long-term side effects (this is my reason); 2) they had Covid and don't feel that they need to take the vaccine; 3) they are or want to get pregnant, and won't even take a Tylenol let alone some vaccine that they don't know (I was one of these, never took any drug except insulin during both pregnancies, didn't take a single thing in the hospital during or after delivery, can't even imagine taking a vaccine when I was pregnant, no way); 4) they are young and healthy and have almost no chance of getting sick from Covid, let alone dying.
Even those who were willing to take it for themselves are balking at giving it to their young children, who again, have an extremely low risk of getting sick from Covid.
In Europe, plenty of countries don't ALLOW kids to get a Covid vaccine, let alone mandate it. Plenty of countries allow previous Covid infection as being considered as good as vaccinated. The fact that we're acting like the US authorities are SO much smarter than all of Europe is another thing people don't like. Do Europeans just love their children less than we do? I think not. This country's Covid policies have been ridiculous.

States with low population densities never closed; virus transmission is going to be slower in rural areas. There's misinformation about Texas never closing. Restaurants could only do carry-out and delivery for a long time, and elective medical procedures were prohibited. When we reopened, capacity was limited for several months. I live here, so I saw the empty streets and empty restaurants.
If the person were smart, they would know that antibodies from infection don't last forever. So, now we're back to these people not being well-informed. The U.S. is just now approving vaccinations for young children, so we do not know yet what other countries might do soon. It will be based on their regulatory process and research for their available vaccines. As far as I know, there is no vaccine mandate for children. Some employers have mandated the vaccine for their employees. The federal government has mandated the vaccine for its employees and contractors. Healthcare facilities that receive federal dollars have a vaccine mandate. Any private employer with more than 100 employees will have to either require vaccination or regular testing.

I think these discussions ultimately come down to how we view our life and our relationship to the society in which we live.
I was taught from an early age to follow the Great Commandment in the Christian Bible. I was taught to love God and to love my fellow man. I try my best to love without judgment. I try to consider the needs of others and to place their needs in line with mine. When I see someone who is immunocompromised, someone who is too young to be vaccinated, or similar, I believe it is my Christian duty to treat them the same way I would want to be treated. If I were immunocompromised, I would want people to get the vaccine so that I could, as much as possible, live my life. I also feel for an entire generation of children who will be permanent impaired in their learning because of this pandemic. I actually don’t really believe it is a choice for me, to get vaccinated or not. My life is not more valuable than anybody else’s and I think it is fundamentally ungodly and unchristian to prioritize my short-term happiness over other people’s well-being.
I was also taught that we live in a society that offers a tremendous amount to us, but that there are costs associated. We cannot always do what we want, whenever we want. I think this is one of those cases where we should do what is best for the community.
I concede that there is an open question as to whether immunity from the vaccine or from having Covid is better. I even concede that there may be some unanticipated long-term side effects and many people may come to regret having gotten the shot.
And I understand that many people don’t share my worldview.
I also understand that the world is full of people who have decided that they can watch some YouTube videos and watch some tv shows and decide that they know more than the medical community. They listen to politicians who tell them not to get vaccinated, but don’t stop to question those same politicians when they tell their followers to inject bleach or to shine UV lights inside their bodies. They listen to a person who questions the vaccine and has MD after their name, but ignore the fact that the same doctor believes that most disease is caused by demonic possession.
If I get called home tomorrow, I will die with the knowledge that I did the best I could to follow the Great Commandment. I genuinely would die at peace with myself.
Honestly, what I struggle with is that this view of the world is so much a part of who I am, that I struggle to understand those who view things differently. I struggle to understand those who think of themselves first or only. I struggle to understand those who would rather fight than work together.
