What are general education electives?

hello all, I have a simple question. What are general education electives? i am working on my AA through tesc so far. I have no idea what these are. Thank you.

[SIZE="3"]They're basically any classes you can take that aren't required in your degree plan. For example, your AA may require 64 credits. Maybe only 40 of those will be required courses while the remaining 24 are general education electives. You then can take 24 credit hours in any combination of courses that you choose.[/SIZE]

General education electives are humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics. Anything else falls under free electives.
Bachelor of Arts, 2008
87 Traditional Credits
27 Exam Credits
6 FEMA Credits

M.A., 2010
