I think I have a thread on what I used to study for this exam. I did it in a short time period, but being a nurse helped a lot…anyway take a breath and use the outline on the Official Clep Guide to focus on the big areas. If you are strong in those you are likely to pass.
Biology | CLEP
If memory serves me correctly this is what I used and I passed it while working and being totally busy, so with the right focus, and going over the IC flashcards you will be fine. If you find yourself running out of time with IC flashcards, just focus on the area you scored lower on in your first try at the exam. Anyway, here's what I usually do:
1. Take the Official CLEP practice questions and see your strengths and weaknesses RAW.
Sample Questions | CLEP
2. Go to Free Clep Prep Website and take the bigger test to determine on a a broader scale where you are at:
Biology CLEP - Free study guide! - Free-Clep-Prep.com
3. Go to the Educational Portal and start going through the videos that you need:
Biology 101: Intro to Biology Course - Free Online Video Lessons | Education Portal
4. Now take the IC flashcards and see how you do. Take note on how you do and which units you need work on and…
5. Work on learning your weaker areas using the Educational Portal videos or try You Tube "Crash Course Biology" videos…They are fast moving, but have some good info and I think they are funny:
DNA Structure and Replication: Crash Course Biology #10 - YouTube
6. Go back and take more IC flashcards and see how you do now. Make sure you READ the answers and rationale! They help!
7. Anything you are still weak on, go back and look a the CLEP breakdown. If it's just one area, you might be alright since this exam is pretty much broken into thirds. But using REA, Petersons and the rest should have gotten you pretty far already, so at this point you should feel pretty awesome about taking the exam. I do think 10 hours a day is way more than enough time to take to study for this exam. I would just go back and do more…
8. More IC flash cards and read the answers and rationale!
9. Try to BREATHE and chill out a bit. This exam is 6 credits. If you use good test taking skills and actually answer what the question is asking as well as use deductive reasoning when you have no clue, you should do fine on this exam
10. Post us when you PASS
Good Luck,
T
