Just thought I would let the fellow veterans who recently moved to Virginia such as myself about this new bill that passed.
Basically if your intent is to establish residency in Virginia and have met all the requirements of things like moving here, paying taxes, drivers licenses, etc.. but dont meet the 1 year requirement and you have been honorably discharged as a veteran then they will waive the 1yr requirement. This applies for spouses and dependants.
LIS > Bill Tracking > HB1861 > 2011 session
Another note is that Florida, where I just moved from, tried this and it died in committee. So if you still live in Floriduh call your local rep and get them moving on bills similar to SB826 HB683.
