applying for OMSCS with indian online degree
#1
Information
Hello,

I'm an international student from Africa, I hold a BSc in Computer Science from Uopeple,  and now I'm looking to apply for the OMSCS program but they accept only Regional Degrees.

so I thought to work around this by getting an online Master's degree from universities like Manipal, Amrita, Amity, Symbiosis, Jain, LPU ..etc

or postgraduate diploma from iiqf.org

just for the sake of getting a degree to apply for the OMSCS and for my application to be considered.

also, I thought of online Indian universities because of the fees i can get the degree for less than 4k which is what I can afford.

Full Information about my Education History:
  •     I completed 21 credits at a local Open university, and I evaluated those credits using scholars.com service to transfer it to Uopeople
  •     i completed some courses at Sophia.org
  •     i completed some credit courses at Coursera (Google IT + IBM Professional )

Studying my Options:

so i have communicated with the OMSCS admission office and asked them if I will be considered if I apply with Master Degree International University, and their response :
" If the school where you earned your master's is regionally accredited or is the equivalent of regionally accredited as we call it in the US, then yes, you would be eligible."

The issue is I'm not sure how can I know whether this international university is regionally accredited or not (by USA standards)

I found good cheap options with fees under 4,000$ like Manipal University, O.P Jindal University, and more universities that are accredited by the Ministry of High Education in India.

universities like WGU are not an option for me because I'm not from USA or Canada

So what do you think will work for me, are there any possibilities?

I'm going to repeat the information I have on your previous post/thread, as you can see, without having many details, even senior members/moderators won't be able to assist, we can only give you a brief answer. You're most likely looking for a longer, more concrete answer, that will actually get you started in the right direction, not a simple yes/no: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...-Associate

You should contact admissions at OMSCS and simply ask them. Nobody else is likely to know.

Have you checked UNISA for their Masters options? They're probably more recognized in your part of the woods... The institutions you've mentioned should get favorable evaluations from NACES members, you should also check with the OMSCS admissions team to be on the safe side.

As Davewill suggested, it might be better to reach out directly to the OMSCS admissions team to ask about these questions.

But generally, any legitimate international four-year college is usually considered equivalent to a regionally accredited university in the US. Gatech has strict policies to not accept people from nationally accredited US universities and from three-year long international universities.

Also, you could visit the OMSCS subreddit and browse through the admission threads for different semesters. People often list their educational backgrounds there, so you can do a simple search to see if anyone from the university you're interested in has been accepted. This could give you a clearer idea of your chances.
