I would recommend taking other Psych exams before this one. Not sure what exams/courses you have taken already? I think the ECE's are not that bad. Go to the EC website and download the free Exam Content Guide for this exam. It will give you a complete outline of what they expect you to know. They also tell you what textbook they recommend (up to you if you want to read it). To study for this test I used IC flashcards, used textbook I bought on Amazon, and various sources on the internet. I also purchased the practice exams ( 2 for $65) which really, really helped me more than anything else. The practice exams are very close to the real thing.

The practice tests are available for purchase after you purchase the test itself.

In my opinion, what got me through the AbPsych exam were two things -
  • Many of my other psych classes touched on the different areas and views (Biological/Behaviorist/Psychoanalytic/So on).
  • A level of deductive and inferential reasoning, which helped on the 'what, huh?' questions
.

I actually didn't even have time to look at the flashcards for the test on here, so I can't comment on how good they might be.

And I would say the test is definitely harder than the CLEP material. It is a lot deeper the particulars than in breadth of material, like the CLEPs.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree
Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which)
Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

If you have taken psych exams prior to this one then you should have a good foundation. You purchase the practice tests on the EC website (after you register for the main exam). The practice tests will indicate how well you know the material and are a great study tool. The practice tests show you what to focus on and they give you the rationale for each correct answer. If you find practice tests helpful then these are totally worth the money. If you are a flashcard person then I would stick with that. It's up to you as what is more helpful. I use the flashcards only as a reinforcement of the material-- I do not use flashcards as my main source of information or study tool. The practice tests and reading a used textbook helped me the most for this exam.
