This 10-12 page assignment is very research focused. I have to write a paper describing the HR requirements for hiring a new manager to oversee the operations in a Scandinavian division of a fictional company.
So first I had to do research on Scandinavian politics, economic performance, degree of unionization, labor relations, recent lawsuits against technology companies etc. I currently have about 15 sources of information in my references section and my browser is filled with tabs!
Then after finding and reading a bunch of journal articles, I began to write my opening paragraph and flesh out the skeleton of the document with opening lines for each major paragraph.
This process is time consuming but interesting. I am taking this assignment seriously because it is worth 20% of my grade and it is an exercise in strategic management and research so it is enjoyable. Also, this teacher is a stickler.
Just thought I'd post about it.

Nice. Sometimes school assignments don't have much relationship to anything you encounter out in the working world--but in this case this is completely practical. As such, it's complex and requires a lot of research and analysis it appears. I know that for me, I'm really into things like this until I have to actually start getting it all down and then my back starts hurting and my mind starts wandering and I check a few of my favorite web sites--maybe get a little snack..
In any event, I have no doubt the skills and info you are now acquiring will be extremely valuable in the future for you which must feel pretty good, huh?

I have completed 5 pages and have a boat load of references.
It is an interesting topic, one that I would be honored to research for a company as an employee. This is the type of research project that one would encounter in a company contemplating entering a foreign market.
This is class #6 for me. I have completed:
Business Ethics
Strategic Knowledge Studies
Foundations in Graduate Study for Business
History of Management Theory
C# Programming for Business
I have this class left plus:
C++ Programming for Business
Network management systems
Management Information Systems
Business Statistics
I can complete 2 courses per month max, so I anticipate completing HRM and these 4 courses in <3 months.
I also have to finish my final assignment for the 6CR environmental science course at TESC. My topic is Nuclear Power for a Clean Energy Future. I am doing a crapload of research on this one too. This class is 1/3 science and 2/3 politics so it is right up my alley
