Which is faster
#1
Im in a rush to complete my degree because I want to join the army with it. Im currently pursuing generql business admin with tesu but I was wondering if its faster with a non-business capstone?

If business is best, then, I imagine the PF strategic management course is better than the Tecep of SM? Because im reading on the forum that people are unhappy that they wont be able to take the pf course as credit come july 1st

Thank you for clearing this up for me. I just dont want to waste time. I love the learning experience, but Im in a battle with time here

PF course is easier and you can complete it faster, you just have to wait for 3 weekly webinars, but you can have the rest completed before then. The only thing going for the TECEP is that it's cheaper, but a lot harder to pass, and you still need to schedule it a few weeks before doing the test... Pick the easier one, I chose PF for 3 of the required business courses. I may take one more for the AOS.

Yeah but im not a TESC student yet. Will they still allow me to transfer it? Straighterline is probably easiesr than PF in terms of the other business courses

Yes, that's exactly what I am doing. Taking ALEKS for my Math/Stats, Saylor and Straighterline for the bulk of the General Ed, Professional Business Requirements, and free courses for the free electives. There are 3 courses in total that I am using PF as there aren't any Saylor or Straighterline options. The AOS requires a set of courses as well that can't be fully fulfilled with Saylor or Straighterline, I may just take one more PF course for that. I am not taking CLEP or DSST as its a bit too far.

That's a good question, and no one really knows the answer. They say they will accept the PF course if you complete it before July 1st, but who knows if they will hold to that for anyone who isn't a student yet. They could say that if you enroll after July 1, then even if you took the course before July 1, they won't accept it as a transfer. No one really knows.

I personally am studying for the TECEP right now. I'm not finding the material more difficult than some of the other management courses I took previously (HRM, Org Behavior, Org Theory, International Business, etc.). Actually, I'm finding it fairly simple to go through because I have taken all of those courses, so a lot of the material is familiar to me.

Sorry if it's not helpful to you, but sometimes we just don't know what TESU is going to do. But if you're already going to be studying for a bunch of business courses, then I don't think SM is impossible to pass as a TECEP. Not easy, but not incredibly hard either.

If you want a very general degree, you can take the BA in Liberal Studies at TESU. The BALS is much more flexible in terms of what they will bring in (27cr of free electives as opposed to 6cr of free electives for the BSBA, and you are very free to pursue whatever course of study you like). But, you will pay more, as you will have to take the Capstone, which will be $1155 for you in-state, and that is a 3-month course. The TECEP is only $114 (the business capstone of Strategic Management is the only one where you can test out of it).

I think it just totally depends on what courses you've taken, and what courses you're best at. If you're a history buff, for instance, and think it would be really great to take as many history courses as possible to get a BALS, you might do well to take those. It might go faster for you than a BSBA. It just really depends.

And I'm not sure on TESU's policy of whether they will let you take the Capstone if you haven't finished the cornerstone (which we know nothing about yet), and so that might hold everything up.

It's only $75, just go ahead and apply. Then you can send in the transcripts before July.

But im not a tesc student...or you mean that i should enroll with tesc now? Wow, is the tesc strat management really that hard lol

hilarious I think what davewill is trying to say is, apply to the school and get an evaluation, email academic advising to inform them you want to transfer the Penn Foster Strategic Business Management course to their program. That's exactly what I've done, I've applied but not enrolled, I have emailed them for pre-approval.

It's $75 and you don't need to enroll until you're ready, that $75 will last you for 12 months, if you don't enroll then, you just need to pay another $75. But you can enroll anytime to lock into a calendar year, if courses, GPA, residency requirements & other regulations change, you will not be affected as you're subject to the enrolled calendar you're in...

For myself, I will enroll once I get as many credits as I wanted to before starting with them... I may just do that before things change July 1. As all I am going to take from them is the $300 cornerstone for 1 credit, it will also give me a GPA from them, the rest I am transferring in from other sources, as cheaply/easily and quickly as possible.

Yes, you don't have to enroll to get your transfer credits approved and put into your academic evaluation. Since you're in a hurry, you'll almost certainly take a TECEP or the cornerstone before your year is out. Even if you didn't, you'd just have to pay another $75.
