How hard would it be for someone to CLEP spanish with no spanish background what so ever. I have plenty of resources for study, you think this could be done with 50 hours of study?

That is definitely possible. I have a Spanish background and did very little prep and was able to score a 72 on this test. Search for the previous threads and you'll see how well people fared on this test with little to no background.

Thanks for the advice, I notice you have your CCIE, very impressed. I'm just finishing up my CCNP. CCIE is like a whole 'nother ball game though, does the security test also have the huge 8 hour lab test? I was thinking about going for one of the CCIE's, but read some ridiculous blogs about people studying 40 hrs a week for 2 years, while working.

It focuses more on most of the Cisco security aspects that no one will ever use (time-based, reflexive ACL's, EasyVPN, etc). The key is to setup a virtual home lab. I used the following setup: CCIE Security Home Lab with dynamips - Internetworkpro You can use Windows, but better to use your fav. Linux distro (I used OpenSuse). Read the forums and you can get sample configs and setups. The only thing you can't simulate is the VPN concentrator, but it's fairly simple to setup if you've ever setup IPSec on a router (same concepts0. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Hi Chummers!
I am curious. What resources are you planning to use to study for this? I don't know what a realistic amount of study time would be, but don't forget that you can make sure you are ready through practice tests - REA, Peterson's, and the Official CLEP Study Guide. Please keep us updated on your progress.
