How does TESU determine if your transfer courses are 2 or 3 cr?
#1
Not sure how to phrase this question...

I attended a RA state college that was on a quarter system. I have a copy of my transcript. It says Fall QTR, Winter QTR, Spring QTR. But out next to the course there is a column titled SEM Hours and under that for the courses I passed it has a 3.

Many years ago, before online classes, I attempted to go through Regents College (now Excelsior) to finish my degree. On the paper eval I have from them it says I completed 78 hours and still needed 42. They list out each course they gave me credit for transferring in and they all have a '3' cr hour.

So, have I been wrong all this time thinking my quarter school credits are 2 hours? I now have no idea where I got that information.

When I sent in all my transcripts to TESU, the eval I got back from them was also allotting 3 cr for each course. It looked a little funky though with the placement of the courses. I now have an appointment next week to settle my major and get my courses in the right places. However, now I am wondering if I might be closer than I think if I misunderstood that transferring in of my college credits would be 3 instead of 2. Do I alert them that all those credits should be 2? Or since they have my official transcripts and they put them on my eval as 3, I'm good?

You'll just have to wait for when you transfer everything over, what TESU gives you.

If your credits were earned on a quarter system, the following conversion applies:

2 quarter hours = 1.33 semester hours
3 quarter hours = 2 semester hours
4 quarter hours = 2.66 semester hours
5 quarter hours = 3.33 semester hours

Sounds like maybe your old school already scaled the credits as semester hours. If TESU gave you 3 credits on your eval, then 3 it is.

I wonder if you might be right. I just looked at the degree requirements from the school and it's 120 cr hrs to obtain a degree.

You should be good, I'm not sure why they gave you 3 vs 3.33 or 2.66 as per their chart. As long as you got the credits, that's what matters. I wouldn't worry too much about having that extra/less .33 or anything. Keep moving forward with your required/missing courses and complete them accordingly.

You are probably good, HOWEVER, you should still point it out to your advisor. Why? Because one, if someone missed it today, it will be revealed eventually- usually when they do your graduation audit. Having watched that here happen at least once, trust me, you're not going to be happy. Second, if it is accurate, they'll tell you why- which is the more valuable piece of the puzzle imo. Finally, if it's a mistake, and they correct it now, you have plenty of time to figure out your strategy.
