Where Can I Test Out of a Psychology Degree?
#1
Where can I go for upper level psychology classes that are either College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Advance Placement (AP), [SIZE=5]Dantes Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) or whatever like. I have General psychology, I need the others like: cognitive psychology, personality psychology, child psychology, Etc...

I want to remain at home and go at my own pace. I don't want dead lines or assignments. I just want to learn on my own off of YouTube, library books, google searches, word of mouth, etc. Then go to a place and take a test proving that I know the requirements for that type of college class. Get the credit and then the degree.

Thanks for whatever you can offer!

It would depend on what school you plan on attending. Each school has their own policies for transfer credit as well as degree requirements. For UL psych courses you have Excelsior credit by exam, TESC credit by exam (TECEP) and CSU Global credit by exam. Other sources for psych courses are Tor College Credits, study.com, DSST, CLEP and straighterline. Some of the ACE recommended options are considered lower level. I believe COSC still accepts the GRE Psychology test for credit, mix of UL and LL. Using credit by exam for psych degrees is getting harder, but is possible to satisfy some or most degree requirements. TESC, COSC and Excelsior would be the easiest programs to complete with credit by exam. They all require a capstone and COSC requires cornerstone as well. TESC recently changed their psych degree requirements so some information on the forum is out of date.

I did all my UL Psych tests through TESC (TECEPs) and Excelsior (Uexcel). I also took a couple of online classes - LSU and BYU.

I just looked. Excelsior has 6 out of the 10 UL classes that WSU ( Wichita State University) has. I want to receive the same requirements that WSU has for a BA in psychology. IDK why.... I just want to make sure I have the basics at least, and they give a great curriculum for those.
Those classes that Excelsior and WSU have together are:
Social Psychology
Developmental Psychology
Abnormal Psychology
Theory of Psychology
Educational Psychology

What I still need to find is:
Personality Psychology
Cognitive Psychology
Child Psychology
Biological Psychology

Is the other college, TESC, have any of those. Can you send me the link for the list of their test out ,tests. AND/OR are there other colleges that may have those UL classes listed? Thanks!

COSC gives 18 credits for passing psychology GRE with mix of upper and lower level credit. Google "exam master list Charter Oak State College."
Don't miss out on something great just because it might also be difficult.

COSC gives three UL credits for the Psychology GRE. If you don't need any LL credits, then I would recommend you skip it.

Hey, it's Jennifer - nice to see you over here!

As you make a degree plan, you have to keep in mind that every college's degree requirements differ slightly. So, if you choose to consider Excelsior, Thomas Edison, or Charter Oak, you'll have to do a degree plan for each of those and see what's the better fit. Matching courses/exams to WSU won't help you unless you're thinking of attending WSU- and in that case you'd have to see what exams that they accept.

My suggestion is to spend some time kinda learning the vocab here, reading the archives, and absorbing some of the amazing resources in these discussions. Welcome!

I wanted to send you another link- BA in 4 weeks is completely ancient. In fact, while it's true that Lawrie completed an entire accredited bachelor's degree in 1 month, the details won't work today. It is, however, easy enough to do what he did using current tests (more of them) in a year or less. In fact, I think we've had a few members here in the 6-month club. Smile None the less, it's inspiring to read. It's probably one of the first things I read back in the day. Lit my fire! Lawrie Miller's BA in 4 Weeks. Online degrees by distance learning.
