Mine is very simple...it's my middle name. My middle name was my father's attempt to satisfy both grandmothers' requests for me to be named after them. One grandma was named Loretta and the other Elpidia (obviously not American, lol). The beginning of
Loretta and the end of Epi
dia make up LOREDIA. :-)
Hey it's better than Fleur de Lis (meaning Lily), which my father wanted to name me before my mother intervened!

ShotoJuku Wrote:I picked this up from another thread regarding the various nicknames that we use here in the IC Forums so I thought I would elaborate on mine - ShotoJuku.
To begin, I have been studying/teaching Japanese ShotoKan Karatedo since 1971. The founder of Shotokan - Gichin Funakoshi used the pen name of "Shoto" meaning "Pine Waves" and his style was subsequently called Shoto-Kan.
I use a derivative of ShotoKan retaining Shoto but added Juku meaning "special or private school" thus - ShotoJuku.
More on this and other useless knowledge can be found at my website - shotojukukai .
How about some of the other nicknames out there????

Brian, I didn't read your post until now. My sons are all in karate. Their style is Shorei Ryu from Okinawa, Japan. My oldest is turning 14 this summer and is hoping to promote to his black belt. He is finishing up his 8th year next month and has been working SO hard the past 18 months for his test. I am not familiar with your style- there are so many, but I just wanted to say that I admire your commitment to mastering a martial art!
Oh- and Cook is my maiden name (!) and DeRosa is my married name. I couldn't give up a name like "Cook" in my field, so I held onto it. Although it looks feminist (I'm not) I use Cook-DeRosa - thus my screen name!

I am a book worm and absolutely adore Tolkien’s works. So one day while I was supposed to be studying
I found this Middle Earth Elven name generator. When I typed in my name I got Inwe Elanesse, and voila that became my forum name.

My user name is a name that I've used for sometime now. I'm one that loves to play online video games via the PC or Xbox 360. My family are gamers as well and we have a group called Da Dawgs or Da Wolverines. I chose DaFoamy as in a rabbid dog that's foaming at the mouth.

My name is probably the most unoriginal...first name initial last name and date my wife and I were married.
It is the only username that I can seem to remember...bad memory probably does not go well with testing, but it has worked for me so far...

The reason for my name is quite simple. I have llamas (pasture poodles), sons, and my name is Lu(Ann). Not really creative, but it works.

Anyone who has "Pasture poodles" is by their very nature creative and unique.
If your worried your name doesn't sound cool, I disagree. It sounds like the name of a secret agent of some nefarious (and also secret) organization. I can see the movie script now. Says the good secret agent guy: "ah... madame LlamaMamaLu, I fallen into your (nefarious) laser beam buzz saw that looks like a hand fan trap again...".
If you ever make a dime of anything I said above you owe me half. If you are arrested as a spy, I know nothing.

Well, if you finish your bachelors before turning 18, I think you can upgrade to FarmerMan a bit early
I thought your name might be a reference to the Laura Ingalls Wilder book- especially since you are homeschooled. There must be something in the water that all of us homeschool moms make our children to read that series

I hadn't thought of that angle but Farmer Boy is a really good book and my favorite of that series!
