Inferior Outcomes?

I was kind of wondering if that might be a factor in why we have such horrid tech support at work. We have TWO companies that we use and neither one can figure out why my mail and calendar programs disappear every morning. I have to re-download and set up every single day. It is open and running, then by 9 am, they disappear. The best answer I got was… “Well, hopefully this time it won’t happen again.”
What?

The author states that online learning is easier and the grading is more lenient, but at the same time states that more people can't hack it and subsequently drop out of online courses, than do those in non-online settings.
If you look at this guys past articles, he seems to have some kind of issue with online courses and "for profit" schools.

based on the abstract (don't have a moment to read it in depth yet), the study is saying the exact opposite of this article writer's point... it was actually the face-to-face group that had more leniency in grading:

Quote:Our analysis further documents a rise in grades associated with COVID-19-triggered changes to student assessment policies embraced by universities as well as instructors adopting a more flexible approach to grading. While these developments led to an increase in grades for all students overall, those who began Spring 2020 in face-to-face courses appear to have benefitted more generously from them.

If you're an extrovert, I think you're going to be more likely to do poorly in online classes than if you were an introvert. Doesn't mean much about the classes themselves, IMO.

there might be more introverts than extroverts that prefer online courses, but it's not adequate to make assumptions about the academic outcome based on the personality type...
