What Classes can I take through ACE/CLEP/ETC

Quote: You also do not have to dissect owl feces. You do at UMPI.

This is a side track for lifelong learners to enjoy.

If I recall that discussion about the lab requirement it was an owl pellet, not owl feces. A member here on this forum had to get alternative labs due to medical reasons where it didn't matter which end it came from.

Owl pellet is not the feces of the owl. It's the spit out from mouth of bones, fur etc that could not be digested.

Had to do that lab once in middle school and it wasn't nearly as gross as it sounds not matter which end it came out of. Certainly less gross that whatever the vultures left behind on my sidewalk the other day. anyway..

If others want that lifelong experience learning, check out this link for owl pellet in K-12 schools. https://www.birds.cornell.edu/k12/pellet-teaching-tips/
or if you don't have medical issues and want to try, check out the resources from homesciencetools.com they sell pellets and charts and stuff. That's what I remember from middle school science. LOL

just a side track for lifelong learning adventures that I was reminded of from this thread even if no one takes the UMPI class since it's still as overall bad as before for all kinds of reasons (not just pellets)
TESU: BALS June 2021 (comm college, clep, sdc sophia coopersmith, SOS110, and capstone)

An owl pellet will contain the remnants of what it ate.....rotten. No thanks. Many people do not wish to touch such items. Study.com also has virtual labs. Ashkir's report on the class in general that it was a poorly done and didn't align within it's self and that's beyond the owl pellet problem. It's pretty long as well. The Study class from what I'm told is much faster and easier. Far less lab writing.

Owl pellets are actually sanitized and are not "rotten". They might not have been safe enough for ashkir, but they're perfectly fine for most people. There are plenty of reasons not to want to dissect owl pellets, but they're definitely not rotten.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG

Something about this thread back and forth of rotten vs. not rotten cracked me. Being a vegetarian I wanted no part of a lab and was glad to have the virtual options through Study.com with Labster

I'm glad those going to UMPI (and other schools) have options other than umpi's course (which never sounded like a well put together course).

so.... just for laughs, anyone up for doing virtual owl pellet dissection? wink.  https://kidwings.com/virtual-pellet/

Sorry but partially digested animals is rotten. The pieces in that pellet aren't fresh. I'm someone who has a million allergies and this isn't something I would touch with someone else's rubber gloved hands. People who are vegan, vegetarian, animal activists, etc. may have a real issue with this lab. Options are a lovely think to have!
