West Civ 1 CLEP Help!
#1
The school I want to go requires a West Civ Class to grad with and the West Civ 1 CLEP is equivalent to it. If I just study the IC cards a lot up until my test in a month will that be enough to pass? Jw.

Maybe. Depends on how much you know already; it covers a LONG period of time, and therefore quite a bit of stuff. This, I decided, was actually good though 'cause you only have to study a little bit of everything, you know. If I was in your place though, I'd supplement IC with the REA guide at least. It'll make you that much more likely to pass.

I passed Western Civ I with a 73 a few months back and this is what I posted on the Specific Feedback forum:
" Used IC - REA - Peterson's Tests
Heavy on Greek and Roman ancient civilizations and Middle Ages
Not many visuals.
The test is more about what you deduce from the facts than what you know about facts. I would get a question and go, "OKAY, I know that one," but the answer I was looking for wasn't there. Very frustrating.
I think InstantCert would be enough for a good passing score, but, for myself, I'm not a good guesser, so REA and Peterson's provide for my comfort level."

Hope this helps.
Happy studying!

thanks for the help but I would rather not spend money on a book that I will never use again. If i study the IC first and then take a few petersons tests will that help me score good on them? I really dont have a foundation on this topic. Im just need to aim to just pass so i can get the credits from it for my GE requirement for the school i want to go to.

I have Western Civ in my future plans too. If you are a member of IC the specific exam feedback has a lot on this one. One of the ways I study is to look over the feedback cut and paste the info I don't know into a word document then use Wiki to look up those terms or events. That could be all you would need to supplement the Flashcards.

Good Luck let us know how it goes.
