Web Design

I am interested in getting a degree in web design. What school would benefit me more?
I am just beginning this road so I do not have any credits under my belt.

Since you don't have any credits yet, you might find your best choice to be a local school. I'm not sure what is available where you are, but around me the state owned technical colleges offer the web design programs at the best rates. Should you one day wish to transfer to one of the big three schools (TESC, EC, or Charter Oak), make sure your choice is regionally accredited to avoid issues with transfer of credit (noting that not every credit you take will always fit into another school's degree program).
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

I would consider teaching yourself while going to school and testing out of a degree at Thomas Edison, Exelsior, or Charter Oak.

There are a lot of free resources to learn about web development and design out there such as W3Schools Online Web Tutorials. There is no substitute for hard work and time spent building HTML pages.

Don't expect teachers to teach you. You need to learn this on your own. They can guide you but thats about it.

My goal is web design too, I chose a BSBA Computer Information Systems at TESC testing out of as much as possible. It's vaguely related, Im a freelancer for web design os the business portion fits me. However the programming and other computer classes are pretty far off from web design.

Has anyone looked at these? SVC - Skagit Valley College - Multimedia Certificates Suggested Schedule They're completely online. I signed up for it but was forced to drop due to time constraints. From what I saw, the courses are basically Photoshop/InDesign/Dreamweaver 101. I personally felt that I would be better off just buying the "Classroom in a Book" series and learning on my own, but I still haven't found the time to do so. XD

I took Interactive Media last semester at USF and was forced to spend time in Illustrator, Photoshop, Audacity, Windows Movie Maker, and doing HTML and Javascript work. If I hadn't taken the course I may not have done all of those things. I am signed up for Web Design this semester at USF and I hope that the course helps me to push my boundaries.

About programming. The web is no longer a static brochure like it was in the 1990s. All web sites are interactive and all web designers should be fluent in JavaScript and jQuery. That means you need to know how to program. Don't let people tell you that web designers don't need to understand technology. Those people will just hold you back.

Thank you all for your advice. I am not able at this time to go to a B&M school. I will need to do all of my schooling online. Ryoder I have looked into W3 schools, and plan on using them.
I also want to look into programming. I was looking at the BSBA Computer Information Systems at TESC CrazyCarla mentioned and Am interested in that. I plan on testing out as much as possible also.

The BSBA CIS is a business degree with an 18-credit CIS concentration. The BSAST in Information Technology requires 45 credits in information technology.
