We need more posts for Intro to Psychology
#1
For those that have taken and passed (or failed) Introduction to Psychology CLEP, please share
your experience. There aren't many posts on this subject for exam tips, yet I see it mentioned quite often
with regards to CLEP courses taken. I have read to think broad not deep , what did you use for study materials
besides the Instantcert flashcards? Wink

If you're using the flashcards, you should be able to access the "specific exam feedback" folder which has thousands of posts on that test.

Psychology 101: Intro to Psychology Course - Free Online Video Lessons | Education Portal is ALL you need. I passed with 67 in under a week by using it, and checked that i was ready to test by taking the Offical Clep Study Guide's practice test.

I'm sure that if you do a search, several threads will show up. It was one of the first tests I took, so I overstudied. I used a free, online text at Allpsych.com, I watched a psychology series at Learner.org, and I used the Instantcert flashcards.

Intro Psych was my first (and only so far) CLEP test too.

Everyone has given you great advice so far but just wanted to add one thing I haven't noticed anyone mention that helped me break up the monotony of studying for this test, I played it in the background when I was doing other things and some of the things actually stuck and actually came up on the test... of course unfortunately I can't remember specifically what those things were now but...

I watched Professor Paul Bloom on the Yale Open Courses channel on YouTube.

Like I said, so much easier than just reading reading testing reading, I even listened to some while I was playing video games lol.

Some people learn better from reading than hearing, but I think its good to mix it up. I'm happy with TESC but I have to admit my biggest disappointment was finding out that they didn't do video lectures like Coursera does.

I read the REA book on a plane and on the treadmill while at a wedding. I used no other sources and passed easily. Psychology just isn't that hard.

Do you have a device that has access to iTunes? If so, iTunes U is a great resource. I listened to the Intro to Psych lectures from HACC in the car on the way to/from work and they were great. The professor's last name is Bailey. Being a 'captive audience' worked for me and the lectures really did help connect the dots of the material I'd been reading. It's been said above, but education portal and allpsych are fabulous resources. IC is great, but I wouldnt test on that alone.
