Good choice! Well, I guess I'll just be pushing you from behind then....
Consider creating a signature with your progress, plans, and goals. It gives a surprising amount of self-accountability and self-reward. Also, you never know who is keeping track of your progress. For instance, over the summer, a forum friend wrote to check on me since my signature had not changed for a while. It was really nice to know that someone else cared about my reaching my goals, too. It is a lot of fun to have such a great group of people to share this experience with.

Mom,
Does the real NAP know you're using that name to log in?
Seriously, I've thought of it. I need to figure out how it will look, and what purpose I want it to serve. Do I want to show others what they can do? Do I want to brag? (Nope, not will some of my scores/grades.) Do I want folks to do some gentle nudging?
Oh, and how to do it!
Thank you for being there. People on this forum are very nice, and very supportive. It's not the fake kind of support, either. You know what I mean. Your 6-month old passes gas, and you act like he/she has won an Olympic gold medal. It's a good place to be. (Not next to the gas-passing 6-month old; I meant this forum.)

I am the real NAP; I promise. I would love to use your mom as an excuse for my gabbiness (1700+ posts!), though.
When you log in to the Private Messaging area, there is a link on the left-hand side to âEdit signatureâ. You can design and save one there and change it as needed. Then choose the box to add it to your posts, when you are ready.
Yes, brag â show your growing pile of exams and credits! That is the big reward. You donât have to include grades and scores, if you donât want to.
I was just disappointed to learn that you have been participating in the forum, but not making the progress that you wanted. We really enjoy celebrating each othersâ successes. We want you to meet your goals, too!

lol, great post LaterBloomer, funny stuff...you have a good sense of humor that certainly shines through.
I do agree that putting info in your signature helps. If you don't want to brag, you could always do the opposite and try the following signature for motivation:
----------------------
The Degree Tracker
ryoder: x 14
Me: x 0
Or maybe this one? Look at the smug little smile on that roadrunner...better catch him!

I keep getting mentioned in these posts. I feel honored.
I remember as a kid, when I was 13-16, there was this one kid in my school who was THE sports master. He was the best in basketball and football. I played his position but in 2nd string in basketball so I never got on the court. One day we had a track day in gym class and we had to run a 100 meter sprint. Of course I trained for it and I was a darned fast sprinter. I ran against him head to head and I ran as fast as I ever did in my life. I was right behind him the whole time. It was truly obvious who won but it was probably .02 seconds difference. He of course walked it off and I threw up afterward !
Of course I didn't beat him that day but I saw him at the reunion a few years later and I knew then that slow and steady wins the race

Okay, I'm gonna take NAP's advice and do a signature block. Thanks, Steve, for all of your help. Let's see if it takes.

Oh, I was just re-reading my post in response to NAP's suggestion that I do a signature. I mentioned undue praise for a child's actions, and I mentioned flatulence. Guess what? I'm planning to go to a musical (!) in NCY entitled, The Fartiste. Really. That's its title. It's based on some guy in Paris from the 1800s who had a musical bottem. Really. A real, live guy "performed"in Paris. I hope that I can get tickets 'cause I'm SURE that it will sell out quickly.
On a tangent, I was at a restaurant a few years back when two non-American women were talking about the lack of an American culture. I wanted to interrupt. " Hello?," I'd say. "We have native American tribes with fascinating cultures. Since we broke free of British colonialism, we've developed baseball, jazz, etc., etc., etc." Of course, we never had a Fartiste. Maybe we were lacking.

Do I look like a math expert, NAP? I [I]think[I] that I'm sitting around 72. (Probably fewer as some may be duplicates.) I'm working on 5 courses with Penn Foster, but, since I haven't started working on the 5th one, I can't remember the course. I have to get some accounting, economics, math, stats, and marketing credits (at least) for a BSBA - GM from TESC. (I think that I have a few more courses hanging around, but I couldn't find all of the transcripts.)
