I've gotten some strange emails in my Charter Oak email inbox. Two offered me petting jobs. One went into quarantine and one didn't. It just basically said "I am a staff at the school" (they're not) and asked me to email my phone number to a gmail address. My email address at the school would be pretty hard to guess, as I have an usual last name and a number at the end of my email address. It makes me wonder if they were hacked? The same email shows it also went to another student at the college.
One possibility I just thought of is maybe a phisher/spammer made themselves an account at Charter Oak and then started punching letters into the "to" field. If you type a letter or letters into the to field when composing a new message you can pull up all kinds of names and email addresses.
