Although the election is four months away; the reality is that Donald J. Trump is already president-elect.
I remember the last presidential campaign approaching this confident it has already won.

Not gonna lie, the question of replacing the respected but elderly leader on a short and unusual timeframe is awkward! Supremely awkward! Is there "strife" in the Beltway? Sure!
But outside the Beltway, the Democratic Party is about as coherent and united as an American major party gets.
Elections are won and lost outside the Beltway!
The Biden replacement issue is a big deal historically but there's surprisingly little acrimony in the party outside the backrooms. There was more visible acrimony in the larger party from the hotly contested presidential primaries in 08, 16, and 20. Each time the party still united, enough to win 08, 12, and 20 (and even enough in 16 to win the popular).
It's possible acrimony could increase.

I'm not whining. Do you hear someone whining? You might ask yourself which presidential candidate whines a lot, and whether Americans might get tired of whining.
