I have a question, that hopefully someone can shed some light on. The BS I'm working toward has a required number of credits -- 120 or so. However, with some of my credits I've had transferred in, this doesn't seem to add up, so I'm curious as to how that's supposed to work.
Example: Say I'm working on my BS in Underwater Basket Weaving. I have two core classes in Wicker Materials Management and Principles in Weaving, each listed as 3 hours (so 6 of the total 120 credits needed). Let's assume I transfer these in through non-traditional sources ... I have ACE approved training that covers those with a recommendation of 1 credit hour each (2 total). This is applied to my degree plan, and I receive credit for the core requirements for my degree. Now I complete the 114 other credits. With my two ACE approved credits I now have 116 credits and show as meeting all the other requirements.
So, does Excelsior graduate you at this point for meeting all the requirements, even though you have only 116 credits? Or at the end of that ride do they say, "hey, you met all the requirements but you need 4 more credits to graduate because 120 is a magic number" and you end up having to take a class or two to hit the 120 to get a degree?
While I'm a long way from finishing my degree, this is definitely something I need to know because of how my credits transferred in. I'd rather know now so I can anticipate and implement into my plan if needed.
