Upper level credits at COSC
#1
Hi All,

it seems the advisor standing in for my permanent advisor screwed up. She had given me a roadmap to graduation, that i was completing ahead of schedule. When the permanent advisor came back she updated me on the real requirements left for me to complete. Anyways long story short I need 2 more upper level classes, and as I have been dpoing, I am going to test out. Please give me some suggestions on what would be best.

I have already taken:

Civil war reconstruction
history of soviet union
labor relations ece
hr managment ece
substance abuse
business ethics and society

Any help is appreciated! Thanks

These are not exams, but if you are open to something different, I suggest Study.com: Business 312: Advanced Operations Management and Study.com: English 305: Advanced Technical Writing. Note: these both require a short 800 word essay.

For exams, World Population UExcel is not supposed to be too hard. Ask to see if you can get upper level credit for A History of the Vietnam War DSST. (Some of the DSST exams that are now considered upper level are still lower level if you matriculated before 7/1/2016).

Good luck! I hope you get this worked out soon.

Hey, thankas for your reply. I had asked about the study.com courses when the temporary advisor was in place. She had told me that COSC does not accept them. I will ask the new one and see what the deal is. To be honest all these exams have worn me down!

I matriculated in the time that does not allow the vietnam test to be upper level... I have had that discussion with them before and it didn't seem to be an option, I have no idea the rationale behind it.

COSC does accept the Study.com courses I mentioned as upper level.

Here is the transfer guide: Charter Oak State College

But with your recent luck, you better check and get it approved first.

After all of those exams, you may like something different with the Study.com courses. You can try it for free for five days. Be sure you are signed up for the College Accelerator plan.

We have seen reports of COSC refusing to accept Study.com courses as upper level credit.

The Charter Oak credit by exam guide lists a few surprises, most notably that they will accept the TECEPs Intro to News Reporting and Psychology of Women as upper level.

Although you may have matriculated before 7/1/16, in which case those two exams are still lower level.

Kay V, I think it was the originator of this thread who reported that COSC wouldn't accept the Study.com as upper level.

I think the information given by the adviser was probably wrong. See this thread: http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior-tho...y-com.html

You are correct barney. It was me reporting that they weren't going to accept study.com courses. I am asking the "more experienced" advisor and will report back with the answer.

You are correct, any idea why things are like this? Wouldn't it make more sense to make them lower leve for newer students? Why wouldn't it just apply to everyone?

UPDATE: COSC will take the study.com courses mentioned above as Upper Level Credits, as they should have this whole time! Time to sign up fo the college accelerator! Any tips? I'm new to study.com.
