Houston Community College and Sophia Learning Partnership Concluding May 14, 2025
#1
I wasn’t sure if this fits in the Sophia.org section, but Houston Community College is ending their partnership with Sophia Learning in May of this year. They had a partnership with the university of Phoenix creating degree pathways.

I’m not sure if this partnership was ever mentioned on here, but I think it’s a shame, HCC is ending it. There will be less opportunities and choices for people to save money for college and university. I hope they can see in the future or so, there’s a market and need for this. But ultimately, it’s definitely a revenue and business decision for money. I don’t fault HCC, but still.

I applied to HCC to take Texas Government and Politics since I'm interested in going to ETAMU but I haven't heard anything yet and I guess this is why...they are probably getting an increase in apps to try and make the sophia deadline. It sucks that they are ending their partnership with Sophia. I wonder if they will stop taking study.com as well.

Interesting to see how this plays out, most likely the main class that won't transfer into ETAMU would be the Texas Gov class, you'll have to take it at any one of the community colleges in TX to get that class out of the way, then do the rest of Sophia.org that can transfer into ETAMU. HCC is just one college, hopefully, this won't affect other colleges...

I was thinking since I have to take Texas Gov and I'm doing Sophia classes for ETAMU I might as well get an AA at HCC but with this change I'll just take Texas Gov at my in district community college.
