Provider: Excelisor
Course: Social Psychology UL
Course content: Self-study. You can find the course e-book on ebay for $1.
Final exam format: I believe it was 100 or 120 questions, all multiple choice. No essay. But you have to go to a testing center, there is as yet no online testing option.
Final exam content vs course content/practice exams: You can buy the practice exam package for $35 more, which I did. It was helpful. If you don't know anything about social psychology and this is your first time taking this class then the two practice exams would give you a good idea of what to expect on the final test. If you are familiar with social psych (because you've already taken a LL and just need an UL to fulfill TESU's requirements) then the extra package might not be necessary.
Time taken on course: I spent less than 3 hours scanning through the course textbook.
Familiarity with subject before course: I took LL social psych from SDC, passed that test, and then reviewed the content for SDC's advanced Social Psych class. That was more than enough to pass the Uexcel exam. I browsed through the Uexcel course e-book but found the information to be pretty much the same as SDC's advanced course. I was able to pass the Uexcel exam with a 92.
Pitfalls, high points, things others should know: This is not an online test, you have to pay an extra $50-60 to take the exam at a testing center. Then you have to pay $15 to have your transcript sent to your college of choice. In the end I felt that this was an overly expensive course, coming in at $220 all said and done. I did purchase the package that included a free re-test and pre-tests for an extra $35, which was useful. I would say that something like Coopersmith for only $150 may be a better deal (and more convenient since it is all online), though I haven't taken this course with them to know what it's like. If the price isn't an issue, and going to the testing center isn't an issue, then the course seems fair and easy.
