Uber and ASU
#11
Excellent data point to transfer from ETAMU to ASU. The cost savings alone for tuition is worth it, even for out of state residents of Texas.

Is there a cost for transfer credit review?

I have heard of ASU of course, but don’t know much, is there a minimum of courses that need to be taken or is it possible to transfer in and satisfy more than 90 credits and just complete what you need?

I have the BAAS in ORGL, and if it will only require another 3-4 classes I might as well get a the degree with ASU for the PM track.

It would take significantly more than another 3-4 classes. The PM part is the equivalent of an entire major. Plus their ORGL major has more required classes than ETAMU does. In my personal opinion, due to the high tuition cost, ASU is not worth seriously considering for most of the people who come to this message board unless they qualify for free tuition through an employer partner such as Uber or Starbucks.

Having transferred in a completed ETAMU bachelors, plus a few random handful of credits from other colleges, plus over 30 credit hours of in-house ASU credit I took through Universal Learner when they were almost free during COVID - I still lack 36 hours (or 12 classes)

Yeah, I was just looking at the curriculum. You’re right still not cost effective to get it just because. If someone was set in ASU and wanted that degree, this is a nice way to save a bit of money.

I ran the equivalent of a "What If?" audit on DARS, the ASU tool similar to Degreeworks to see what it looks like if I changed my major to a BA in Liberal Studies. ASU has different component groups (Humanities, Arts and Designs; American Institutions; Global Communities, Societies, Individuals; Mathematics etc) that you need to check off for General Education requirements. For Liberal Studies, the major is split into several of those disciplines, but at upper level credit.

Surprisingly, the ORGL classes from ETAMU get slated in to a few of those different disciplines and check off some requirements. As it sits, I am only 6 classes (12 credits) away from a BA in Liberal Studies.

This is mainly because the 35 Earned Admissions (Univeral Learner) classes I took during COVID already check off the residency requirement.

I'm currently petitioning an upper level gender studies class I randomly took in the past with syllabus upload for transfer credits. I'm also trying to transfer in the Jax State Try it Free class SW 301 Stress, Coping, and Resilience from 2022. If those were accepted at upper level, and/or if the remaining two ORGL classes still being evaluated come through and slot in, I may be down to needing only one or two upper level electives, and two capstone courses to get a BA in Liberal Studies.

That's so tempting, I'll pretty much have to do it.

I'm turning into the sheepskin collector I used to make fun of.

Send help.

I would love to go there, if only for at least one semester: In order to obtain those Physics credits I so-want, and still want.
Someday: I gurantee, I will do what it takes to get through those Physics degree credits. I know I still want them, no longer how long ago in the past my previous desire for Physics credits was.
Well: for the upper level ones. Now: I've only gotten to "Level-2-3" Physics.

Liberty has an online physics major and upper-level courses too.
