I've been finding the Peterson & REA practice tests closer to what I see on the actual exam as opposed to the official CLEP study guide books. Not sure how the US History II stacks up, as I took it a few years ago and don't remember which guides were closer. Personally, I wait until I'm getting at least 10 points above mins on each practice test before I take the exam to give myself a little wiggle room for poor sleep and test-day stress.

You ready to take it! Don't judge from the Peterson tests. I remember that test having a few freebies for example like who killed Abraham lincoln? It was easier than I expected.

Free CLEP Prep has always been helpful to me, he does a great review of the tests he takes. Here's US History II: History of the United States II CLEP Free Study Guide - Free-Clep-Prep.com

Not sure who else has practice tests, I'll look into it tomorrow and see if any of my buddies who've done it more recently have some links

I used one of the suggested textbooks to study for all of my CLEP exams. Freshman textbooks are typically well written and readily purchased used. The study guides, practices tests, and flash cards are no replacement for a textbook in my opinion.

I think it depends on how you learn whether textbooks will be useful. I haven't used any textbooks for the CLEPs I've taken and don't use them for my community college classes either if I can get away without using them. I don't learn well using them so I use other resources to augment my learning like videos and games/quizzes which do help me. OP, I am studying for the US History II CLEP and I am using the Crash Course History videos on You Tube to give me a good overview of the time period. I will also be purchasing the Peterson's Tests as I found them to be useful resources with my other CLEPs.
