UMPI Degree Plan - Help Needed
#1
(04-21-2021, 04:40 PM)ashkir Wrote: Do you want a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration – Management & Leadership Concentration from UMPI with Weekends and Break time? This degree plan is very similar to my own, but, modified to maximize outside credits based upon my UMPI experience. Let's say you're going to start 100% from scratch starting the first Monday of May... This will take 7 months in total but only 6 months of work!

View my Smartsheet here:
https://app.smartsheet.com/b/publish?EQB...340f80ed57

Your cost:
Sophia: $158 (2 months at $79 per month)
Study.com: $199 (1 month at $199 per month)
InstantCert: $65 ($15 exam fee x 3 + 1 month at $20)
UMPI: $2800 ($1400 per term/session, x 2 months)

$3222

Notes:
  • I do recommend taking English at UMPI, but if you time it along with your Sophia.org classes, there's no reason to spend time at UMPI on it.
  • Bio 105 is recommended to be taken at Study.com vs UMPI
  • I assume that it'd take you 3 days to finish a Sophia course and 30 days per Eng Comp
  • The dates do not count weekends and assumes you're starting the first Monday of May.
  • Due to enrollment, you have a 1-month break, unless you finish 1.5 months ahead of time. I took a 1-month break myself between Sophia and UMPI.
  • UMPI class dates are just placeholders, but just try to do 1 per week and you'd finish in one term.
  • you can easily swap out Study.com or InstantCert classes and take them at UMPI instead, as you'd have 3 weeks to spare at UMPI so you can safely move 3 classes around.
Hey,

I have 50 credits I'm hoping to transfer in and want to complete my bachelor in business as fast and cheap as possible. Would you be open to reviewing what I've completed and advise how you'd proceed?

You've got Environmental Studies, so you just need Human Biology from Sophia to meet the science requirements.

You also need a foreign language. Either take Sophia Spanish or, if you're fluent in a different language, ACTFL exams are possible.

Which business degree are you wanting to get? There are different degree plans on the wiki here: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Category:UMPI
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

Yes, you need to say which degree you want to get before we can help you. A BLS or an actual business degree (BABA)?

For the GEC, you're off to a good start. You still need:
Math (either College Algebra or Intro to Stats from Sophia are your best options)
A Biological Science (Human Biology - Sophia)
A Foreign Language (Spanish - Sophia)
An Ethics course (Intro to Ethics - Sophia)
A Civic Knowledge course (American Government at Study.com)
TESU BSBA/HR 2018 - WVNCC BOG AAS 2017 - GGU Cert in Mgmt 2000
EXAMS: TECEP Tech Wrtg, Comp II, LA Math, PR, Computers  DSST Computers, Pers Fin  CLEP Mgmt, Mktg

From your other thread:

A Biological Science (Human Biology - Sophia)
A Foreign Language (Spanish - Sophia)
An Ethics course (Intro to Ethics - Sophia)
A Civic Knowledge course (American Government at Study.com)

For the major, you need:
Intro to Business
Financial Accounting
Microeconomics
Macroeconomics
Business Communication

That leaves a lot of courses to complete at UMPI, but most of those are probably faster than doing them on Study.com - although you may want to research those further. If you're going to do American Govt at Study.com, you may want to add an UL course that will transfer into the major at that same time (since you're paying for 2 courses anyway).

Thank you so much for your reply and information!

Should I also look to complete the courses for the major you listed elsewhere or with UMPI?

Is Sophia courses faster than Study.com courses? Is that why your recommended the courses above through Sophia?

Hey, basically... To get you started: Please provide us more details on your current budget, commitments, scenario, etc by following post #3.  You also should review the post #5 which you have quoted above, it has links to the UMPI degree plans and will provide a general idea of what to take, as there are a few BABA concentrations, and you haven't specified which one!

Lastly, to answer your questions which I have quoted.  1) UMPI  2) Sophia.org for lower level as it's just $99/month all you can get credits, example if you do 10 courses it's 30 credits that 1 month for $99.  Study.com has a max of 5/month and should be used for upper level.  For more details on how to start: You should read this thread and post here: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid378074

Thank you very much. I am looking at completing the BABA in Marketing or Management and Leadership.

My budget is to finish as cheap as possible. I will be paying all out of pocket and have enough money to do so.

I have lots of time, I work from home and have weekends wide open. I really just need to finish this ASAP.

I have looked online an UMPI and cannot find the requirements for either of the above programs. Can you please point me in the right direction?
