Hi all,
My fiancÃe is trying to finish up her BSN, but there are two required courses that her school doesn't offer online until the end of 2016. I'm trying to find equivalents from another college(s) that she can take and transfer in. It's ridiculous that her college won't offer them sooner - if she waits and takes them from her college it will delay her graduation by over a year!
Anyway, here are the course names and descriptions:
NRSG-322 Professional Development in Nursing - A course that assists the registered nurse student in transition from an associate degree or diploma level to the baccalaureate level of nursing. Nursing philosophies, theories, current concepts, issues relevant to professional nursing are emphasized. Nursing career options and the importance of career planning are explored.
NRSG-316 Applied Statistics for Health Professions - A course focusing on applied statistics used in quantitative research studies in the health professions. Topics include the research process, ethics used for human participants, especially for vulnerable populations such as persons with chronic and terminal diseases, descriptive and inferential statistics, probabilities, confidence indexes, hypothesis testing, reliability, validity, and sampling. SPSS (statistical software) is used to analyze and display data.
As always, I really appreciate the help that this forum provides.

The latter course looks easier to find because it's a statistics course. There is an ALEKS Statistics in Behavioral Sciences (3 credits) costs like $20 for a month subscription, no proctor, but you'd probably have to see if your school would allow a waiver. The former course in development looks harder to fulfill. What state are you located in?

You might try asking the question (or searching) over at allnurses...someone there has probably had the same problem allnurses | Nursing Community for Nurses & Students
What school are you trying to use this at? What will they accept? If they would accept the ALEKS course above that would be my choice...but very few schools will be familiar with it and nursing programs are rather notorious for being very particular regarding course selection.
Excelsior offers a couple of upper level exams, but I don't think either are what your looking for. Excelsior College | Bachelor Degree Exams

The former course in development looks harder to fulfill. What state are you located in? Even though you're likely wrong about the ALEKS being applicable (maybe, but doubtful)...if all your posts were concise and submitted in this helpful spirit you would become a favored and welcome member of this group. Well I indicated to the OP, "You'd probably have to see if your school would allow a waiver" which implied uncertainty about the course being acceptable. In general, I try to keep my posts as concise and on point as necessary. Some things simply cannot be written in a short, and concise manner without losing meaning or without broader context in mind or when engaging in civil discourse with members. It depends entirely on the subject and context of course.

No matter what you have to talk to the school; however, check this two exams out:
Excelsior College | Transition to the Professional Nurse Role (Professional development one)
Excelsior College | Research in Nursing (For applied stats... Kind of doubt it will work)
If the school accepts ACE you can try ALEKS Stats for behavioral sciences; however, I doubt it will work but is worth a shot.
Your main resource for this situation is going to be the school so I would really talk to them. Ask about these exams and see what they say. Good Luck

That's insane, especially NRSG 322 is a filler course that is completely unnecessary. The NRSG 316 generally can be satisfied with any Stats course including Statistical Methods for Soc or Psy, however they may want upper level stats course which APU/AMU offers. I would submit those stats courses as a petition to the dean to see if they will allow those to be substituted. I know nursing isn't a huge fan on testing out on subjects.
This course may also satisfy NRSG 322
NURS300Professional Transitions in Nursing3 hours
This course is only open to students who are enrolled in the RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) program. Students complete a professional self assessment using the indicators for the professional nursing role outlined in the Nurse Practice Act in the jurisdiction in which they are licensed. Self-assessments of competency and comfort with technology, oral, and written communication in nursing are also completed. Action plans are formulated to facilitate development in these areas. If "any" stats course will work there is a CLEP orDSST. I believe the university of Idaho may also have one for around $100/credit that is self paced and asynchronous.

Nursing schools are generally less open to transfer credits than other schools. DSST has a statistics exam, but it is lower level so it won't work. There isn't a CLEP statistics exam. Start with the nursing school to find out what is allowable. Ask if they will allow a transfer. They may say no. Don't waste a lot of effort finding courses if the answer is no. If they are willing to accept a transfer, ask if they can provide the names of schools previously accepted for transfer.
As another person said, allnurses.com is a better forum. It has over 100,000 members.
