Transferring to TESC from AMU - who here has done it?
#1
Please post your experience here, because I'm considering making that move.

AMU is prevalent among government workers and military. Although TESC has a large following in the Army and Navy, it has a large alumni that works outside of government. Also, a lot of my co-workers go to and recommend AMU to me because of how easy it is and that the exams are open book. If that is your preference, than AMU is perfect. That personally doesn't turn me on and probably wouldn't turn on many employers either. This is just my personal experience.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

LOL. AMU doesn't have the bad reputation of other large for-profits, but I have heard the work isn't that challenging. Some people say it is challenging because they require more writing than a traditional school at the undergraduate level, but I've had others tell me the grading is easy and the caliber of students is low. Employers might eventually catch on to why AMU is so popular among military, law enforcement, and other public sector employees. But, it's not as if TESC has a much better reputation. Some people have the misconception that it's a life experience college. However, not being as well known as AMU can work for TESC. It's also a non-profit, state college. AMU is for-profit, and for-profits are taking a beaten in public opinion.

Anyway, your courses should transfer fine as long as they fit into the degree program you pick. TESC is very liberal about taking credits from any regionally accredited school.

I apologize, my previous post reads like I'm turning my nose up on AMU. I am by no means a snob. TESC does not have a stellar reputation by a long shot and the pot shouldn't be calling the kettle black.

I switched from AMU to TESC. Mainly because I wanted to do more testing and utilize other means for credit like many others on here. All of my credits transfered with no problem. some did not transfer to what I thought they should but was able to get those changed by providing the course description to TESC.
I agree with sanatone in that TESC being less known helps with the reputation.
