Hi All...
Just wondered if anyone here has taken any of Torah College's UL courses - and if so, what was your experience? I am specifically looking into their one UL history course - HIS-301 Eastern European Jewish Immigration and Settlement in the U.S.
I need one UL history course to complete my 2nd depth at EC, and am not feeling the love :ack: :ack: for my present choice (DSST's Civil War). The fact that I could have TC's exam proctored at my nearby CC versus taking an 80 mile round trip to my nearest DSST testing center just sweetens the appeal...
Any info would be greatly appreciated... eeya:

The Civil War DSST test is not that bad. The "Dummies Guide to the Civil War" was a easy read and covered everything needed to pass the test. Also the DSST History of the Vietnam War looks pretty easy.
Associate in Arts - University of the State of New York / 1989

I decided it doesn't bode well that there are more people running for President than have taken Torah College credits...:roflol:

I've had this tremendous phobia about the Civil War DSST - attempting to memorize all the battles, generals, war strategies etc.:ack: Not to mention I went into a state of near unconsciousness after attempting to watch 20 minutes of Ken Burns' Civil War documentary...:ack:
Not my thing...definitely, not my thing...:ack:
Only good news - according to DSST, CW is now pass/fail.

lol I just think it's not as popular on this forum. I ALWAYS consult the forum but sometimes I just give things a try even when no one here has much to say about it (like Patten University or completing a Learning Counts portfolio in Spanish). Sometimes things are just relatively new; other times they are not so new but just not as well known here. I have a good feeling about Torah College Credits and I actually met someone offline who has gotten a number of credits through them. She made it seem like it was popular in her community/school.
So....are you gonna be the guinea pig for this one?

I wouldn't take this as a negative sign...these are just new sources of credit. I would recommend contacting TCC for some details. They have been extremely helpful with regards to my questions.

Still on the fence. I did register about a month ago with Torah College just to see the syllabus for HIS-301 - their only pass/fail history course...They list the required textbook with chapter by chapter reading assignments/topics to learn, give access to a 96 page PowerPoint "Crash Course" guide, but give you no idea what the final exam consists of, no practice quizzes - nothing. Given the subject matter is a complete unknown to me (Jewish Immigration and Settlement), I'm more than a little hesitant to dive in...
I'm most likely going to do what I've been doing for the past year...kick the can down the road with regards to my history requirement, and work on my last UL elective...:willynilly:

Since reading your post, I took another look at Torah College Credits and I am considering Abnormal Psych and Research Methods. If I decide to take one or both of these, I will be sure to let you guys know all about my experience .
The cost with the summer discount is the same as Uexcel but online proctoring is a big plus.
