For the past year and a half I've been wearing contacts but never found a company good enough for my eyes... I have a stigma in my eyes and used several companies (acuvue oasis and biomedics.) Acuvue's base curve is an 8.6 and mine is an 8.7...that's when I started using biomedics because it has a base curve of 8.7 but it still bothers my eyes. Does anyone know any other good companies? I don't like how glasses look on me...

My wife was blind as hell for all her life. She couldn't see 10 feet in front of her without glasses, or contacts. I took her to the Doctor and got her Lasik surgery, now she sees 20/15. She went from blind one day, to seeing better than me the next day.
Do you know if your eyes can handle lasik?

I have cousins who did the surgery...it worked for some and some not...so I don't wanna take the chance...my mom wants me to do it but I'm scared. I don't have such a high prescription: my right eye is 3.75 and my left is 4...my bf is an eye doctor. He said I should just wear glasses if my contacts keep hurting...When he was learning I guess he saw the damage contacts can do...he showed me pictures and they do look kinda scary...but I don't like glasses.

My grandmother is going to get lasik, but only one eye at a time!

She's a doctor, and knows there's a bit of risk involved. My boss got it done and sees great now. If I ever have to get it done, I'm definitely only getting one eye done at time. Unfortunately, I don't know of any better contacts

I wear glasses/contacts and if I had a profession that it wouldn't matter if I got lasik I would do it... But you need waivers and things when you apply for Federal LE jobs with lasik and I don't want to DQ myself for something stupid.
I don't think any contact lens brand is "comfortable" considering you're placing a foreign object ON your eyeball. Glasses just take some getting used to if you can find a pair that look good.

I actually just got glasses last week. Never thought I'd need them and wasn't sure what I'd look like. I starting to get used to them. I only wear them when I'm driving (I found I can't read with them, despite the doctors recommendation).
You should check into glasses. I was surprised about the discount I could find with a little research. I got a complete pair with a one year warranty for $195. You should check into some.
Go for a Urkel look!!hilarious

My uncorrected vision was poor enough that LASIK was the only way for me to qualify for my federal LE position. The cutoff was 20/100 if I recall correctly. I did have to get a written statement from my LASIK surgeon that there were no complications, but that was no biggie compared to all the other paperwork.
I still love the results nearly four years later. If you do it, be sure to shop around and get a reputable surgeon, even if it's more expensive. Your vision is worth it.

methibosheth - I actually know of someone who the surgeon told him to do both eyes together and the guy is still suffering a year after surgery...so :iagree: with doing one eye at a time
It's funny how eye doctors almost always wear glasses...I think it's because they learned about all the risks that contacts and surgeries can do

...I see your grandmother is an exception

...good luck to her!
MA2 - I've asked some friends and they told me that their contacts
are comfortable even though there's something on their eye...so maybe mine are more uncomfortable because I have a stigma.
rossatkinson - I've had glasses since the beginning of 4th grade (8 and a half years ago) and tried many glasses...I don't like the look...finally in the middle of 11th grade my parents told me I'm responsible enough to wear contacts...
The price is not the problem...my bf works with glasses and contacts all day...he gets them for cheap and sells them. He keeps showing me pairs and some are cute, but not on me.
Lol I HATE the urkel look.
Katterina - I'm glad your surgery worked out fine

...but I heard that many times (especially in women because of pregnancy hormones...I may be wrong) the vision starts getting bad again...
I don't think I want to do the surgery...maybe later on in life... Right now I'm trying to find good contacts for astigmatism.

I was bored, so I did a little research

It seems that a lot of people who don't like Acuvue oasys for astigmatism prefer Biofinity Toric. You might want to check it out.

Lol that's really funny because my boyfriend was telling me this morning that he would try to get me that one because he can get it for cheap (it's quite expensive)...you proved him right because he said it's better

Thanks!
