Which TESC business TECEP to take?

I need a few classes for my major area of study for my general management degree at TESC. Anyone know tests are easy? whats hard? What tests did you guys take? just look for some general information. Also does anyone know if i'm required to take a certain amount of upper level classes to get my degree? Thanks

TESC normally requires 18 upper level credits in the major area of study, but probably doesn't mention that for the business degrees because so many of your courses will automatically be upper level i.e. principles of management, introduction to marketing, business in society, and almost all of the courses suggested for the area of management. Either business in society or international management is required, so unless you want to take it as a course, you have no choice but to take it as a TECEP (or a DSST???). Have you thought about taking CLEPs, DSSTs, and ECEs? I don't have any personal experience, but I heard that TECEPs are more difficult than the other tests. There are also more free and low-cost study materials available for the other tests and more feedback on them on this forum.

Also does anyone know if i'm required to take a certain amount of upper level classes to get my degree? There is a list of courses required to fill the business core, five of which are upper level. The area of study needs to be upper level (or advanced such as intermediate accounting I/II). Business electives can be lower level (100-200).


Business in Society (BUS-311-TE) <-- this duplicates DSST business ethics & society BUS311-DE and fills the core business in society slot. I took the DSST exam and found it sort of easy after prin of mgmt, hum res mgmt, and business law.

Strategic Management (BUS-421-TE) < -- this exam is actually titled Business Policy and fills the core business policy slot. Check the specific feedback section and create a study guide for yourself. You can pick up an outdated copy of the text (I used the 15th ed). As long as you know the subject matter I did not find the exam too difficult. Just be prepared to rattle on a bit for the essays (5 short/3 long). For example if you think about the companies that have moved cust svc jobs overseas you can list/describe a few downsides to offshoring/outsourcing.
