Does Thomas Edison have a transfer limit of 90 credits? This means that I must take 30 hours of classes from Thomas Edison? I'm considering their Bachelor's program, but I already have about 110 credits, including CLEP exams.
Here is what they sent me over e-mail: "Thomas Edison State College accepts up to 90 hours of credit in transfer from a single source recognized by the American Council on Education, including CLEPs. You will find information on CLEPs by logging onto our website at
Thomas Edison State College and following the student services link to the College Catalog and Registration Bulletin link to the Undergraduate Ways to Earn Credit link to the link for Testing Options."
This is what their website says: "3. If you have attended college in the past, submit official copies of transcripts. Thomas Edison State College accepts up to 80 credits earned at regionally accredited community colleges and up to 120 credits earned at regionally accredited four-year institutions. Send transcripts from all the colleges and/or universities you have attended. These transcripts must be sent directly from the institutions to the Office of the Registrar in unopened sealed envelopes with signatures across the seals."
What am I missing?

No they will take all 120 credits as transfer you kust won't get a GPA you have to take at least one course through them to get a GPA. They do have a limit of 80 credits (I think) from 2 year colleges.

They don't go by my GPA at the university from which I transfer my credits?

My understanding is that TESC doesn't provide any GPA on their transcript except for their own coursework. So no classes with them, no GPA. Excelsior shows both your cumulative GPA and your GPA for your work with them, but TESC doesn't. I think this is one of the gripes of testing out and going through TESC is you end up graduating without a GPA. Good luck!

Also, you can't transfer in all 120 anymore, you have to take a capstone course there for all majors starting this summer iir.

I just talked to a representative from TESC over the phone. She said they accept unlimited transfer credits for a Bachelor's degree. Currently the capstone course is not required, but it is highly recommended.
My concern is the GPA. I'm trying to think how graduate admissions would look at a GPA that is based on one or two classes: "Yep, I've got a 4.0. I got a D at the state university but transfered to TESC and got an A in one class (that was all I took that semester)." Okay, that's an extreme, but you get my point.
Currently, I have a 3.93. As much as I would like to have a 4.0, my question is this: will graduate committees frown on my GPA being based on one or two classes?

Most schools will look at your cumulative undergrad body of work, not just what you did at TESC.

Exactly my thought. They will look at everything you have done, not just TESC. It all depends what you are going to do with your degree.
