TECEP questions
#1
First off I want to thank everyone for the information on these forums! Y'all are amazing.

I have completed all of the credits except the 7 TECEPs I need to qualify for the per-credit option. I just found out I am unable to take any of the TECEPs until November 2nd at the earliest (i'm still confused why but its whatever). My plan is to take the 7 TECEPs and the capstone class in the next term and graduate March 26th which is the soonest I believe i'm able to get done.

If I fail one of the TECEPs, will I be able to sign up for an 8th in the same term? I believe the term ends in January. Would that mean that if I fail my 7th TECEP at the end of november, would I have to wait until february to take a new one?

If I fail a TECEP and get my 120th credit from an outside source, can I still switch my tuition plan to the enrolled options plan within that term?

How do I get my academic evaluation done for the 3rd time? I had my initial one done and then a 2nd one was done at some point with a message stating that no more will be done until I enroll (I already paid the application fee). Does that mean I cannot get another one done until I pay the $1500 for the capstone?

I've found the information on TECEP's to be rather scarce. There are only 3 on instantcert (I am a paying member) of which none are tests I plan on taking. The specific exam feedback subforum also is very light on information. Does anyone know of any other resources that might help? I have the recommended books for my classes although I bought the previous years edition since $250 x 7 books is way out of my comfort level lol. Any additional material helps.

Thanks in advance for any help!

When you apply to TESC you become an applicant. In order to graduate from TESC you must be an enrolled student. For students planning to transfer requirements in with only the required capstone at TESC there are 2 options for enrollment; enrolled options or pay per credit. The pay per credit is cheaper but requires 24 credits of residency thus the 3 credit capstone and 7 TECEPs. The enrolled options plan is more expensive but allows you to graduate as soon as all degree requirements are met and does not require residency credits, only the capstone course (for degrees that require the capstone be taken at TESC).

The TECEPs are a TESC "course" and must be registered for the same as other courses. A new semester begins each month. The Nov. semester begins Nov. 2nd. You missed the deadlines for the Oct. semester. The semester is 12 weeks and the TECEP exam can be taken any time during the semester. If you do not pass an exam and the exam is not required for your degree completion you might be able to register in the Dec. semester for a different TECEP (I think there is a test retake policy that prohibits you from immediately retaking a failed TECEP exam.) Financial Aid students are put into an enrollment pattern but students not using Financial Aid might not have to follow an enrollment pattern. You might want to confirm with TESC.

If an applicant enrolls in a TESC "course" (TECEP exams count as TESC course) without enrolling through a tuition plan (enrolled options or comprehensive plan) then the student will automatically be enrolled into the pay per credit plan and will become an enrolled student 10 days after the semester begins. Once you are an enrolled student TESC will update your academic evaluation with pending transcripts (transcripts received after your 2nd evaluation). After you are enrolled, any future transcripts you send will update to your academic evaluation but TESC is slow at updating academic evaluations. It usually takes 20 to 30 days after the transcript is received. If you enroll under the pay per credit plan then you must complete the 24 residency credits in order to be eligible for graduation.

TESC used to allow students to switch from the pay per credit plan to the enrolled options plan in order to graduate but not sure what the current policy is. You might want to look at both the pay per credit plan and the enrolled options plan. Compare cost and time to complete the degree and see which one works better for you. Some students prefer pay per credit because it is cheaper. Some students prefer the enrolled options plan because it does not require residency credits and is sometime quicker and easier.
