I emailed The Institutes a few days ago about the Ethics 312 course not showing up on Acclaim and surprisingly, I received a prompt response from them. It looks like the mystery is solved, they will not be moving this over to Acclaim, period. Doesn't matter if you already completed it and had it transcribed to ACE in the past. The only way to prove you completed it (in the event that a future college asks you for proof) is to order a transcript through The Institutes for $10. That wasn't the answer I was hoping for, but at least I don't have to think about it again and can move on knowing it will never be converted over. Below is my initial email to them, and then below that is their official response.

Subject: Ethics 312 course completed 12/10/2018, badge is not showing up on Acclaim account
Hello,
I completed the Institutes Ethics 312 course back on 12/10/2018, and transferred it over to ACE successfully. Now the ACE platform has transitioned over to Acclaim, but it appears you have not created a badge in Acclaim for this course yet, please create an Acclaim badge for this course and add it to my Acclaim account. I have attached a screenshot from my Institutes portal showing completion of this course, as well as a pic of how it showed up on my ACE transcript.
Thanks

Good morning, and thank you for your email.
We were recently informed that ACE shut down their transcript service and moved it over to Credly Acclaim for badging. We do issue CPCU designation badges on Acclaim, but that is all that we offer. We do not have badges for other courses or designations.
If a transcript is needed, you may order one through our website. Once logged in, choose the "My Account" option from the drop-down menu located in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Then choose the "Learning Resources" option from the left side of the page. From there you may scroll down to "Purchase Transcript $10". You may then checkout as normal and have the transcript sent to the address you provide.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

That is... not ideal. I hope that ACE remedies this, at least for those of us who got the credits before the switchover. ACE credits are supposed to be "for life" and a provider choosing not to use a new system isn't exactly "for life".

I am still waiting for The Institutes 2 credits, National Fire Academy 3 credits, and Kaplan 3 credits. I got my TEEX 6 credits after 4 months of whining. What made the fools at ACE think they could just walk away from the time and money people spent getting an education? I would call it fraud not oversight.

I wouldn't expect the Kaplan credits since Kaplan no longer exists. This whole change with ACE was rolled out poor. It doesn't seem like they really put much effort into this changeover. I don't know why THEY didn't transition over everyone's courses from ALL providers and why go with Acclaim? Sure badges are currently trendy, but will they be in 3 years? I don't know why they didn't go with one of the electronic transcript services like Parchment or the National Student Clearinghouse. It's just so weird to me. It's sad that sooooo many people have struggled with this change and there's nothing you can do. I wonder how many people lost credits and how many credits.

Well, I took and passed the Institutes Ethics 3 weeks ago and sent the transcripts to TESU on Friday. I will post back and see how TESU responds to them. Crossing my fingers as ACE website still shows their recommendation for credit for that class.

I kind of sympathize for the course providers in this case. It's already an expensive process to get their courses approved for credit recommendations through ACE, and most of these providers had already setup all of the internal processes to handle approving courses for ACE transcripts years ago. Now ACE just goes and totally changes the entire process and expect the course providers to toe the line and spend extra money to create digital badges on Acclaim and change their internal processes? The cost in both financial terms and hours of work to make these changes has probably soured the relationship that the course providers have with ACE. It's also a big deal to students who earned credits from providers that no longer exist or terminated their relationships with ACE years before this change was made. I expect that I will never be able to use my ICCP credits ever again because of this.

I definitely don't fault the providers all that much either. I am annoyed with ACE here, not The Institutes.

Agreed. I'm leaning towards taking RA courses as much as possible from now on, since who knows what will happen to ACE credits? We have Acclaim/Credly now, but in 10 years, will some other provider be used? And then we'll have to go through all of this again?
No thanks. I'd rather go for ONU/TEL/ASU courses, where I know my spending and studying effort will give me a transcript I can rely on.

Obviously, you've never dealt with a school that went out of business! This DOES happen, and then years later you're trying to get transcripts from a school that no longer exists, which can be a pain if not impossible.
Point is, there's nothing that's guaranteed. Everybody does their best, but bad things can happen once in a while.

I have - part of the accreditation process usually involves detailing the plan for student records should the school go out of business. Which is one of the reasons why accreditation is so important.
I may not be *quite* as old as you to have experienced the days before contingency plans were expected, but for reputable schools which go out of business, nowadays students can be fairly confident that their records will remain accessible.
