Thank You - Finally Done!
#1
I received my letter from TESC today that it has been certified that all degree requirements have been completed and I will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Social Sciences on June 6th, 2014.
:hurray:

I would like to thank everyone here for posting all the priceless information to be found on this board!

Even though I started my journey (long) before finding this forum, degreeforum and its members have been extremely valuable over the years.
I have used different sources to prepare for CLEPs and DSSTs, but (for me) nothing beat the specific feedback forum (to narrow down what to focus on when studying for an exam) and REA books (both to prepare and for the sample exams).

It's been a long journey for me, I took my first CLEP on June 19, 2003! So it only took me 11 years to complete the BA. Rolleyes
Over the years I changed my mind a few times on where to get a degree and which degree to get. After finally realizing that a 'butt-in-seat' degree from the U.S. would be impossible, I went from mapping out a BGS from Indiana University via planning the BA in Sciences and Mathematics from TESC (like that was ever going to happen with my math 'skills') to finally completing the BA in Social Sciences.

There were long gaps in between exams (we're talking years) as life happened (low paid job, losing job, moving from Germany to the United Kingdom, low paid job...), but as an encouragement to everyone out there: you can succeed! Just be patient and work towards your goal(s). Just maybe don't drag it out as long as I have. I finally got my act together last year and was finally able to get enough money to pay the enrollment fee for TESC.

Due to high proctoring fees and non-communication by several European testing sites, I took most of my exams in the U.S. (Northern Virginia Community College, Brigham Young University, University of Utah, DeVry in Houston and Irving, TX). This meant I could also visit several lovely places and sight see.

TESC accepted 10 CLEPs (48 credits), 19 DSSTs (57 credits), 1 independent study course from BYU, (3 credits) 2 ALEKS courses (6 credits), 6 courses from TEEX (=4 credits) and the Capstone course (3 credits) to build the BA, with a total of 121 credits.

So, thanks again to everyone, I can't wait for September (already booked flight and hotel for the commencement weekend)! I dedicate my degree to my Dad, who sadly passed away last October.
Apologies for the length...
