FWIW I don't really have a dog in this fight and I'm not "taking sides", I just thought this post didn't really make any sense.
You know half a dozen of one or three quarters of 14... someone says they are looking to major in computer science, you wouldn't recommend the BSBA in CIS and say it is equal to a computer science degree. Just trying to say that I did not mean you have to take CS to be a software developer, but know what each degree will prepare you for.
It seemed like people were giving perfectly sound advice, I was agreeing but maybe not explaining myself too well. I'm not here to fight or argue with anyone.

It depends on the field. Criminology is a substitute for criminal justice. International studies is a substitute for international relations. Emergency preparedness is a substitute for emergency management. Biological science is a substitute for biology. Business management might work as a substitute for business administration. Oftentimes, there is not a real difference between MIS and CIS programs.

I don't know the difference between IT, CS, CIS, C+, C++ or most of those other alphabet names you are throwing out there. BUT I think having forum members argue over details instead of helping the OP find his way is not the way to welcome someone to our friendly forum.
Just my 2 cents
