Testing and ADHD

hello all
I was wondering (all suggestions are appreciated) for those that have ADHD, what methods do you find make it easier to study/prep? I'm in a time crunch but find it hard to fight procrastination, I feel the effects of memory slips(which for those that don't know is a common side effect of those with ADD/ADHD and are unmedicated), the most frustrating thing aside from the insane distractibility, Is poor memory retention, like if i'm not fully cognizant of the material in front of me i will forget it quite quickly. I am currently in the process of trying to get to the doctor so I can be placed back on adderall which, I have been off for going on 11 years and has made my 20's a living hell without it, but I digress. I have a major test (the Strat. Man. TECEP) and I don't like taking anything twice, especially a test such as this. any suggestions for studying would be most wonderful and I appreciate it thanks.

As a person with a disability, you are eligible for accommodations like extended time on tests including the TECEP.
Here is how to access those services at TESU. There are some forms to fill out for both you and your doctor.

I can confirm the usefulness of adderal.

Although the crash is too much sometimes.

You won't need extended time for the TECEP. I used all of the time allowed. Problem with adderal is getting entirely too focused on a single problem.

I thought about getting extra time. I even called TESU but printing out the doctors notes and sending it to my doctor seemed like a huge hassle. But it's a huge pain to get anything signed by my doctor. So if you need it go for it. They give you close to 3 hours for the test.

I used about an hour for each section. But I swear I am probably in the minority. I imagine most people finish in an hour and a half tops

Suggestions for test- Bribaric notes is a must in my opinion. if you decide to read the book, read the chapter, and read nyparys cram lists afterwords. For each chapter. His list goes in order with the chapters. Read bribaric notes they are key and the exam feedback is good to.

I read the first 4 chapters back to back and then skimmed afterwards and read side to side. But that was because I didn't have the exam objectives once I had the exam objectives I just read through the book to match the exam objectives.



There seems to be a lot of overhype about the Strategetic management tecep. It really wasn't that hard. It is completely doable.

Have you looked into the instacert flashcards for the Strategic Management TECEP? While I haven't subscribed (yet, planning to after I sludge through a couple more courses) I did take a look at the sample flash cards and they seem pretty interactive and while I have never been diagnosed formally with ADHD I could see where this would have me retain more knowledge than just reading material. I can ditto the flash cards working for other tests. It makes a bit like a game which allows me to stay on task better. I can also attest to keeping on your meds. I'm on methylphenidate which works pretty well and doesn't involve a crash...of course I wasn't prone to crashing even when I was taking dexedrine.

Now, the liberal arts capstone was truly a strain on my attention span.

edit: Now I'm wondering just how many of us "delayed degree seekers" are affected by ADHD.

I do apologize i should have clarified that I meant testing in general I just used the Strategic Management as an example because its my first real test that I have coming up.

I also have ADHD, this forum is full of us I suppose. I didn't ask for any special permissions or anything, I usually prepare enough for a test where I know there's no way I can fail(this also wastes time) but it works.

Interesting irrelevant fact: Thomas Edison had all the symptoms of ADHD(it wasn't a thing back then) and couldn't make it through traditional school. His mother home-schooled him and he turned out to be quite bright. That's what TESU is named after, being a non-traditional form of university. Now it inadvertently serves many ADHD students, which makes a lot of sense though.
