Testing Fatigue
#1
Anyone else suffer from this? I have just 3 tests left to finish my degree and only about 2 weeks left to take them before I go abroad for a few weeks. I reeeeeally need to study but I've been procrastinating all day because I'm SO. TIRED. OF TESTING. Since finishing my capstone, I really amped up the testing and took A LOT of tests in a short period of time and now I'm super burnt out. I don't wanna read/skim an entire textbook in a one week anymore and I'm so tired of IC and quizlet and trying to find the best study guide. And I'm so tried of spending my weekends with instantcert instead of doing fun weekend things! Normally I study on my commute to and from work, but last night on the way home, I totally spaced out and just stared at one page of a study guide and read about 2 sentences in 40 minutes

Okay, just needed to vent. Gonna go force myself to open Psychology of Adulthood and Aging IC flash cards now....

It's very normal. The brain sometimes needs something to clear it out. Have you tried meditating for 30 min? Just clear your mind and think of nothing before you study. That might help.

I just struggled to get through 40 flash cards, started to fall asleep, then gave in and took a nap. I've decide to give up on studying today. My husband and I are gonna watch Netflix and eat ice cream instead

Meditating is a good idea. Maybe I'll try that before I reboot tomorrow.

collegechick, good luck! You should take a day off too!

I also suggest Speak It, the chrome plug-in helps when my eyes can't take it anymore.

I think that's normal. I looked forward to taking classes where I could be "lazy" and still pass. Wink

If you get to the point where you can't focus, you will learn more if you take a break than if you force yourself to keep going. The mind is like a muscle in that it needs relaxation periods in between peak efforts.

I took a break from July until last week when I took the Business Ethics & Society DSST. I was not enrolled anywhere, however, so if you do take a break, be sure you plan how you will maintain your enrollment if applicable to you.

I'm not testing but I am getting tired of taking classes. I was on the yearlong subscription to Study.com which has been great. Two weeks to finish a course was more than enough time. Then I applied for and was granted the Guardian scholarship so I currently have two subscriptions. The timing could not be worse with the holidays. I just want to eat cookies and watch Christmas movies with the kids, but instead I am having to do work every night to be able to complete 4 courses per month. I don't want to complain because I am saving $600 by getting the scholarship and I am also moving my timeline up a couple of months to finish my degree. I am very happy to have the scholarship and three, free months is very generous. I'm just in a holiday funk, I think.

I think we all hit this point at sometime during the process. I started to lose some motivation and then came across "ndelcollo" on this forum. We are basically on each others heels working towards a degree from TESU, so it created a small little internal competition in myself. I have a really hard 60 or so days ahead of me but then it will start to slow down a lot. I am trying to finish both my Study.com courses and SL courses by the end of January. Then I can finish up the 2 TECEPs I need to complete and the remaining CLEP exams. Although I may toss in a CLEP exam in January if I find enough study time for it.
