Ok, so i wanted to update you guys on my first experience and week with TESC in course work. I must say for anyone that is not a student. So far, for my degree choice this has to be the easiest school I have ever attended.
Customer service sucks something nasty. But the work they expect is very small in amount.
University of Phoenix is so much more strict and harder in requirements.
Anyway was happy for week 1 to end and thought I would share.

Cool! What class are you in? I found HUGE variation in the amt of coursework. I had upper level classes that were sleepers, and lower level classes that were insane.

The experimental i didnt start yet because that one is e-pack. I just do it then take the tests when im ready.

Let me guess, the social psych is the easy one I think we talked about that one a while back. Yeah, that's an easy A if you do the work. I took a class called Research Methods in Psychology- not sure if that's the same or not, but it was a piece of cake too.

I'm taking Social Psychology 379 (6 credits) right now at TESC. It's pretty writing intensive 1 paper a week and a lot of reading, multiple books. Although, my grades on my papers have been ok so far, not sure if I agree it's an easy A. Then again this could depend on the mentor as well as the student. Maybe, you're smarter than me? Out of the 3 classes I'm taking this is the most difficult and tedious. I'm taking the midterm this week and pretty nervous about it, especially since it's 6 credits and can do the most damage to my GPA out of the 3 classes.

What do you consider easy?

I am taking Global Environmental Change On-line. I spend what I consider a lot of time on this class. It is a 6 credit course.
The work is broken up into mods There are 6 Mods for the course for each Mod
I spend at least 5 hours doing the reading, at least 5 hours doing online research at least 3 hours on the discussion board and at least 5 hours writing a 7-13 page paper with 9-18 sources cited.

I studied for at least 18 hours for the 2 hour mid-term ( I did get a 94) and I still have to study and take the 2 hour final.

So my question is how much time do you spend per week on an easy course, how much on a hard course. Since this is only my second online course and my last B & M courses were over 20 years ago I have no idea what is "Normal"

ok, ok, ok. Let me add this- Social Psych was my last class. So, I had taken everything else including 40 something credits in sociology and psychology at that time. I had a good amt of background going into that class, meaning I have to do all of the reading/learning. It was more a "skimming" kind of reading and reading the case studies. It was not all new info for me, that makes a difference.

Also, I'll write a page over answering fill in the blank questions any day! So, I always get excited when the classes let us do a page of writing rather than textbook questions...that's just me. I don't remember the topic questions, so I can't remember the difficulty on that.

I did have an easy mentor for the SP class. He gave 90's-100's on anything we turned in. I only had 1 "hard" mentor and he taught both of my CJ classes, so by comparison, the class *for me* felt easy.

I'm taking these classes soon and wanted to ask your opinion.

You mentioned a class earlier on research methods, was it research in experimental psychology (psy-322)? And the mentor I'm looking at is harry hoffman. thoughts?

For social psych (psy-379) i'm contemplating either vail (ol) or jimenez (gs) - any suggestions?
